I know I have. They almost sound harmless, but there’s something about their delivery that makes you raise an eyebrow. These are examples of microaggressions. No matter who you are, where you work or what your position, you probably deal with microaggressions on a daily basis. What are MicroaggressionsMicroaggressions are intentional or unintentional actions or statements with negative undertones directed at a minority group member. They are often subtle in nature, which can lead to one of at least 3 things: (1) You dismiss it as nothing, (2) You question your level of sensitivity, (3) You wind up feeling emotionally exhausted and mentally fatigued. One of the issues with microaggressions is in the name…”micro-”.
