While every other channel is fighting for your customer's attention, podcasts are where they've already given it. No one accidentally listens to a podcast for 45 minutes. They choose to be here. They trust the voice in their ears.

And when that voice talks about your brand, it doesn't sound like advertising. It sounds like a recommendation from a friend. ACAST gives you that trust at scale. Digital precision, post-read authenticity, and performance data that proves it worked.

Don't fight for attention. Buy it with ACAST. Learn more by visiting acast.com slash advertise. Good morning.

This is Victoria sending from Stockholm. And good morning. This is Josephine from Lindolland's Gold for Swords and Spa. Or a country house.

Yay! And it's so wonderful to have you in Sweden for so many different reasons. But I guess one for me is because I'm really morning person, so it's just lovely to be recording for once. During morning for me.

And for me it's not recording that early in the morning. Yeah. And the normal workday. Yeah, that's true.

So the topic that we've prepared for you for this episode, and as a matter of fact, also for the next episode, because this will be a double one, is all about spring clean. Yes. And it was very much, we're preparing it for you, but it was also very much for ourselves. We were sitting yesterday and it was so gray outside, and the spring has really been lingering.

Yes. Or the snow, and the winter has really been staying rather. So yes, we really wanted a bit of pep and getting into that wonderful feeling of spring. So we just decided to make it happen through the spotcast episode.

Yes, indeed. So we prepared a list of 10 items that should really cover all aspects of a mental, physical spring clean, really. And we've based it on the roostenshines for cornerstones, which are career and growth, yoga and wellness, connection and relationships, and joy and engagement. So let's see if you can identify them throughout the list.

So it's sort of like a spring self-pep, right? Yes. So take this one with you out on your walk or on your commute and just listen to this episode and get ready. Get ready for the wonderful season coming up for most of the world, right?

Yeah, it's true. Always have to think about our Kiwi friends and Australians on the other side of the world. Yeah. But yes, on this time is where we are selfishly right now.

This is spring time. And actually, and thinking about that, I mean, I've lived in places where they're hard. You are in a seasons as well. It's just sort of summer, different variations of summer all year.

And one thing that I missed the most was the feeling of having seasons, actually. So you can use this list, I think anyways, if you don't have a season. Yeah. Exactly.

Get that spring feeling. Yeah. So this is like a mental pet. Yes.

And the very, very first thing we have on our list is number one, take a dream break and revisit our goals for the year. Okay. I like, I recognize the revisit our goals, but taking a dream break. What does that mean?

Yeah. I thought about that. And I read somewhere on, you know, how important it is to dream big and really spend a little bit of time thinking about your dreams. And I thought we sometimes were so pragmatic and we're like, okay, let's check the goals that we set.

And that's really, really good. But before you go in and see how am I doing in accordance to the goals that I set for myself, just stop a little bit and rethink, you know, what about my dreams? What are they really? And give yourself some space for dreaming, really.

Yeah. And we did a little bit of dreaming when we were setting our goals for a couple of days. So strategy workshop, it still felt very much like winter. Those days.

Yeah. And yeah, we were dreaming big and getting really inspired. So there was also my tip to, you know, maybe if you have a really inspiring friend or person, dream with them as well. Because that can really help you.

Yeah. If you need some help to dream big. Yeah. And it also actually helps us.

There are two things that really help putting it out there. And one is to talk about it. So exactly like you said, I think it's great. If you want to just go out for maybe an evening walk with a friend and share your dreams and give one evening to one person and the other evening to the other person and just talk them out loud.

And also to write it down and by hand, you know, handwritten is supposed to be helping our brain to also make it even closer to us. And I am an advocate and we've spoken about it before. This is probably a great time to take an ego day to invest in yourself. Absolutely.

And we can talk a little bit more about the different when we go through the list, right? There are a number of things that we can do to pamper ourselves. Spring season. Yeah.

Yeah. We'll come back to that. So once you've had that dream and taken sort of a little bit of time out and explored and looked a little bit into the future and asked yourself. And I think it's probably a great thing to also revisit our previous episode on the values because that will help and come in handy.

Then go in and perhaps look at, I mean, we put it down here like, okay, let's revisit our business goals as in at work. What are your goals? It's so easy to rush, but we are now reaching the first quarter or we've just entered the second quarter. So think about how am I doing in accordance to the goals that I set for myself or that we as an organization set and don't wait for someone else to come and ask you, but go back to them and just check.

Are you on track and how is it going and why? Why not? Yeah, it's a and are you inspired by all of these goals? Is there anything that you need to add or maybe remove to the list?

Yeah. So we looked at our goals for Ruth and Shine and we realized that some we had met and others we had not met and then we needed to return and refine and see, is it really realistic with all the things that we have going on? And I guess I say business goals now, but Ruth and Shine for us is still our passion project. So it's a little bit unfair to treat it like that.

But yeah, it's really good for me now and maternity leave. It's becoming one of my core. Yeah. My core business during maternity leave.

But it's, you know, definitely one of my four cornerstones on my different working roles. So that's, you know, one thing. Don't wait for someone else to come and check how you're doing on your business goals. Take this time and go through and revisit it.

Yes. And then the next thing is to go back to your personal goals and look at the past quarter and then look at the next quarter, you know, the spring really. What is it that we want to do? And what are your personal goals?

So my personal goals are to deliver a baby. That's a good one. Yeah. Yeah.

No, I mean, it's just a funny time when you're in this kind of waiting for a baby to be born. It could be born when this episode is released. I mean, it's fully mature now, but given my history and our families, it feels like it will still be another few weeks. Yeah.

Yeah. So not so much of like development goals or so. So for me, it's probably a lot about being here and now, which I guess is a very good goal on a general basis as well. Yeah.

If you're not expecting a baby, but it's really enjoying where you are at. Yeah, for sure. And what about you? Well, I have a very exciting and fun period ahead of me that includes also a lot of travels for work.

So I'm going to be now flying off to the US and then I have Istanbul. I have the US again. I have Italy. I have lots of lots of things going on and at the same time, so does my husband.

So for me, just like how to keep myself and the family sane and having fun and enjoying the ride in between, you know, or during it. Oh, so that's my big goal. Wow. Do you have any thoughts how to do that?

Because you do have a superhectic time. Yeah. Yeah. And I've even included like a big birthday party and everything in between.

But I thought, you know, you need some celebration. So also that's one to lower the my, you know, it doesn't have to be the perfect party. Just needs to be really nice party with all my friends there and also, well, you giving birth probably. So that's a bit sad, but who knows.

And then sad because of clashes with your birthday party. Oh, yeah. Well, but you know, to not set my requirements crazy, I used to think that it will be fun and enjoyable. The girls will prepare the super nice DJ playlists and will bake together for like all the little kind of pace and everything and make that part fun.

I think mentally now given that I'm adding a week or so from the due date, I'm thinking that I'll be there. I'll be a good birthday party. All right. We'll let you know what happened.

But so those are the things. And I'm also actually I'm I'm flying now for a long haul flight and then a couple of intensive work meetings. So I've also googled already. Are there any massage places that you know, when I get to Salt Lake City this time, I can just go in and get myself a nice proper massage to get rid of the jet lag and everything.

Yeah. Those are things on my list and not add too many other exciting things, which I have attendance. I'll make sure to squeeze in a few risks and shine work priorities there for you. Yeah, I'm sure.

So and then so we have business goals, personal goals and as the third one, we actually put career goals because you could argue isn't that the same as your business goals or personal goals. But I would say more like, all right, your business goals that's achieving and doing great where you are now, but your career goals is maybe lifting your eyes a little bit thinking about what's my next step because you don't want to go out looking for your next step when you're really ready where you are. You want to start to explore, maybe invite that important connection for lunch or create special moments then during now already. And this part of the year in Sweden and this part of Europe, I think people start to get much more open.

People are happier to meet for lunch and start to come out from the dark. We do like bears. Yeah. So this is a great time really to start doing exactly that, start having, I mean, this is very, very business school, but your informational interviews or meeting up with those people that you think have maybe an exciting career that that you want to learn more about.

So it doesn't have to be a strategic meeting that's going to get you something, but start to, you know, open up for that inspiration. Yeah. That makes me think that I have already booked three of those meetings in the spring. I'm like, okay, I'm going to cut out all the other things.

But yeah, so I guess I'm doing that too, which is really nice with some exciting people as well. So that's number one on our list. Take a dream break and revisit our goals. Number two, cut out the clutter and we have in practice, spring clean in the office and at home.

Yay. So you usually do this, bring clean at home? Yeah, I do. It's, I've started to become a little bit better at it.

So really, for me, it's really about kind of going through the wardrobe and going through papers and books that's lying around. And it's really nice way of just getting lighter. Yeah. So I'm starting to get better at having kind of seasonal boxes where I take things in and out.

Yeah. So yes. That's good. Time for checking through the wardrobe, going through everything that is too wintery and too black and that needs to go and hopefully find some nice old gems that you put up last year.

Yeah. If you did this, bring clean up. Yeah. So that's great.

So I'm going to get the windows cleaned and I mean, we have this conservatory with beautiful windows and it's so nice when they're like clean for spring and those simple things. And then I read an article on spring clean, which I thought was really nice that take the time to go through like your cleaning cabinets and go through all the products and throw out everything. And I did go through just last weekend in my bathroom cabinet, which was really long overdue with all the stuff that for somehow ends up there that you don't use. So step by step, go through all the cabinets.

You don't have to do it all in one day, but take a little bit of time to get that fresh feeling. Yeah. I think that's the thing. Don't overdo it because then you just get exhausted.

You do, you know, an hour or so a day. And yeah, for me now, it's of course like going through a baby clothes and so much, which is really nice and cozy. But also it's, I know some people that do really well, I have never really done, well, I don't know, but making small changes in your furniture or in your decoration. So maybe changing the pillows to lighter colors.

Well, one of my daughters and expert at that, she actually, she redecorates her room still using mainly the same items, but at least once a quarter. Yeah. So you're like, oh, okay, the bed has a new position. It's kind of, yeah.

I'm going to do that. It's lovely. It's a great way. Yeah.

Another thing that I haven't seen it yet, I've just heard about it, is the Netflix or the phenomenon I would say of Marie Kondo. And she's written this book, The Life Changing Magic of Tiding Up. And she has an Netflix series and I've heard a lot about her. So I'm going to see if I can manage maybe on some of my flights to see hers.

But one thing that I know that she says is you actually donate anything that doesn't spark joy when you see it. So it's, that's kind of nice, you know, like don't stick to things just because kind of. Looking around a rather messy house. Thinking there's quite a, there's a lot to dig into here.

Yeah. So maybe that's the Netflix thing is on, on our list as well to watch that. What about my son's plastic toys? Yeah.

But it gives him joy. Yeah. So another thing then, so that's home. And I think the same thing goes if you have an office, it's, once in a while, just because I, well, at least if you're me, you tend to pile up papers and all files and reports and just once in a while, take a time to really clean out your cabinet or whatever it is that you have.

And even your filing system in your computer and just do a little bit of get rid of the things that you don't really need. Yeah. And maybe get a new plant and print out a new inspirational quote or whatever rock your boat. Yeah.

Make it a little bit of a, of an upgrade. Oh, that makes me think I'm going to go out and buy some beautiful tulips. That's such a lovely spring sign, isn't it? It is.

Beautiful ways in your flower. I was being stingy the other day. And it's now, if I would have recorded this episode before, I would have certainly gone for it. But look, I was looking at this a lemon tree plant that I was looking at in the window.

I thought it was a little bit expensive, but maybe I'll go back in there and go back and have a look. Yeah. I'm going to get some tulips as well. Fresh flowers, always beautiful.

Yeah. So that's our number two. And number three on our list is there to play and set a new learning target. Oh, the learning targets.

No list without it with me. So the idea with there to play is really based on the fact that research shows that people who go all in and live their dreams and achieve their targets and do all these crazy things. They also really take time to goof out and do completely other things. Which is super interesting, you know, because you'd imagine that they'd be completely absorbed and focused and only do the things to achieve whatever targeted is that they set out.

Yeah. But actually what they do and really spend time doing is goofing out, doing completely different things. What would that be? Guffing out.

Well, it's not just hanging in the sofa and watching Netflix, but it's like doing different hobbies, like gardening or reading or, I don't know, jumping the trampoline. But like things that doesn't really have a real purpose. Still, you're doing it. Yeah, and I'm thinking about these nights, but maybe that comes to the relation list, but still this idea of doing kind of here where we're in the countryside and you can go and have a really cold dip in the water that really wakes you up.

We're just doing a little bit of these crazy things rather than just ending up sitting all day in front of your computer working, but having better breaks. Yeah. And I think a little bit. Remember that French book I was referring to, I'm going to pick that book up again.

When we did our set the goals and targets for 2019 and she said like 100 crazy things I want to do this year. Yeah, that actually gave me a great idea. Maybe we should do this and maybe you're listening should be doing this too, but take it together like a bunch of your three or four most inspiring books. Yeah.

And then lend them to your friend. Yeah. I'll take my inspiring books and give them to you and you can have a flicker through and you can give me some of your inspiring books. And that's a really nice way.

Yeah. I mean, I think we should have an episode just on books because that's such a lot. I love to read. I know you think.

But actually, and that's also another. This is a compromise. No, no. Let's go all in with the books.

But actually, I also read a really interesting article on this saying that, you know, of course, everyone knows that books on management and whatever specific factual books are important, but it proves that reading fiction also is developmental. You know, you learn and grow just as much from that because you actually train your mind to put yourself into a different person's shoes and world and you experience and explore. So it's really great for your brain and your ability to emphasize the empathy to feel empathy by doing that. So I think a lot of people when we talk about learning, they think that they should read all these factors, which is, you know, maybe that's what you need, but it could also just be reading lovely poetry or fiction.

Yeah. And I really find that it's a lot more relaxation fiction. Yeah. Yeah.

As well. Because in these very, I can sometimes get incredibly inspired, but it can also be a bit of a, I should do that as a pressure when you read the management books or whatever. Not the book that I'm writing with my colleague. You will love that.

That's when it's time for it to work. That will help me. Yeah. Go on and have a good day.

Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello.

Same skills you already have brand new results. any learning goals for the summer? Yeah, that's a really good question because last year at this time I set my 100 days learning challenge.

Yeah. And that was because I really needed a little bit of fresh new things which obviously led to lots of crazy new learnings as we've discussed in the previous episodes. So I think, no, I think I'm just gonna go with what's cooking already. So continue with the things that I'm doing, continue to explore and do the reading and do my yoga and be part of it.

Enjoy the flow. Yeah. What about you? No, I was listening.

I was like, do I have any goals? It's such a special time when you're expecting a baby. It's just hard to know what the goals will be. But maybe I would like to learn, I have zero green fingers and I am now in the country for several months.

So maybe a little bit of gardening in terms of growing, for me it would be growing things that I can put into my mixer. Yeah. So brathales and herbs and kale and stuff. So maybe learning a little bit around that.

Maybe that would be like my big learning goal. Yeah. Actually, I do come to think of one thing that I set for myself that I want to do. So this is a good target.

Now I say that loud. So then it must be because I'm going to be a lot in Italy because I have them first I'm going with Frank and Covey, then we're going for summer vacation in Italy, and then I'll be speaking at the World Business Forum in Italy in Milan this fall. So I'm thinking that maybe I should pick up a little bit of my Italian and inspired by my daughter. Yeah.

So it seems so it's not as bad that you know, and I inspired by them. They learn all your languages through different apps and pick up and I'm thinking, well, I could, you know, work a little bit. I'm not saying that I'm going to speak Italian, but spend a little bit of time thinking back to picking up some key phrases in Italian would be nice. That sounds good.

Maybe you should have a little bit of an Italian theme on your birthday party with Apparel's spritz. That's a good idea. Maybe that could be a goal, like really perfect thing with Apparel's spritz. Right now I have the champagne cocktail theme in my head.

Well, there's bubbly in Apparel's spritz. I know, I know. Well, I could have both. Yeah, it's true.

Let's really hope the baby is out or in Apparel's spritz will be like kicking the baby out. Yeah. Well, number four on our spring cleaning list. Yes.

Breathing and meditation. Yeah. So take a deep breath and breathe in spring. Yay.

So we become better at breathing through our yoga training for sure and more interested in breathing. Yes. And I've seen again research saying that one really nice deep breath is really the same as sort of a mini meditation. Okay.

That's a nice way of getting out of the meditation. Yeah. I can just breathe instead. But we did, I mean, we did speak about it in the stress episode and I've been starting to bring this more and more into my leadership workshops.

So I'm thinking that we could actually post on our website a little breathing activity. But just I think before we go, they just take a moment and to and just consider breathing. And what I usually ask my workshop participants is, you know, consider how long we would survive without food. And the answer is about a month.

And then the next question is how long would we survive if we didn't get anything to drink, no water, no nothing. Then we're down to about three, four days. And then finally, how long would we survive without a breath? And not very long, not all long.

So it's about depending on, you know, how much you've trained up your breath, three to seven minutes, something like that. And then think about the fact how much time we spend thinking and talking about food and what we eat, when we should really spend time about thinking and considering how we breathe. And I think breathing is so cool because you really can have an impact. You kind of, you can force the breath to calm down.

Yeah. And therefore give yourself signals. We talk about this as a stress, but give yourself signals to to your body to relax. Yeah.

So yeah, maybe that's another goal. I'm sitting now here looking at how sunny and nicet is to start taking that cup of coffee with me outside in the morning and relax and take a bit of a breath. And they're, they're the meditation falls in as well. And we were talking about how it's hard to get the meditation in.

I know. It's so beneficial. And we definitely could be a continuous goal for us to work on. So I'm thinking for, for breathing, look out for homepage.

We will pose a little exercise there. And we'll let you know that you can actually use like in the middle of the day. And for meditation, it's also to, yeah, invest a little bit time in yourself. And as we've said before, it doesn't have to be 30 minutes.

Initially, you can start with five minutes a day. Do you know what I find the tricky part? No, the tricky part is that I feel like some of these things have to happen in the morning before breakfast. And if it's not like the yoga session, the breathing, the meditation, the pre breakfast walk, like there's so many things that need to happen before breakfast.

And then if you don't make it happen before breakfast, because you're tired or you don't get up in time, then you lose the opportunity. But obviously that's my mindset that needs to be changed. I think that's a great point fitted in where it fits. And you know, it could also be that first thing you do when you get home from a busy day to you sort of get ready for evening.

You take five minutes then and take part, you know, like put your days into different sections. So you're ready to enjoy your evening more than just brushing into it, kind of. Or a pre-lunch meditation. Yeah, yeah.

So that's a great idea. So I think that is actually summing up our first section of the spring clean that you can really do any season, but perhaps extra enjoyable when the sun is coming out. Exactly. And that's where we're going to dig into some exciting things as well, how to really get yourself packed in terms of fashion and clothing and a lot of fun things.

So make sure to, and I'll talk a little bit about Easter as well. I'm very excited about Centipity Easter at home. Yeah. So basically we've come half through the list and stay tuned for next week when we'll cover the second half.

So wishing you all a lovely week. Take care and see you soon. See you soon. Bye.

Bye.
