As we honor AAPI Heritage Month there is one interview that I think everyone should hear. In 2017, I had the privilege of speaking with Richard Sakurai about his experience in a Japanese internment camp. At the time of the interview, he was 91 years old. The internment of Japanese Americans in the United States during World War II was the forced relocation and incarceration in camps in the western interior of the country of people of Japanese ancestry, in which about 62 percent of the internees were United States citizens.
