289 Hope Nemiroff and Sarah Carlson "Breast Cancer Options"

from i want what SHE has · host Theresa Lyn Widmann

Today I am honored to speak with Hope Nemiroff, Executive Director and Founder of Breast Cancer Options and Sarah Carlson, a recent addition to the Breast Cancer Options organization. We get to hear about Hope's cancer journey which led her to be involved with extensive research and advocacy for breast cancer care and health policy. Then we spend some time understanding the importance of patient advocacy, discuss the science related to cancer care and prevention, all of the programming they offer from kids camps to metastatic retreats, and are joined by caller Ilona Ross who added more to contemplate in this complex conversation based upon her efforts to advocate for herself.Breast Cancer Options is an independent non-profit 501(C)3 organization and the largest provider of free and unique breast cancer services in the Hudson Valley. In many places, we are the only provider. We are an organization of survivors and their supporters who understand that a woman diagnosed with breast cancer is suddenly faced with some of the most important decisions she will ever make about her own healthcare. In deciding on a plan of action, it is important to understand:That all questions are good onesWhich information is credible and reliableWhat statistics really meanWhich lifestyle changes can make a differenceHow science-based integrative medicine can be used with conventional treatments. That you do not have to face all this, including physician visits, by yourselfTheir mission is to educate breast cancer patients about effective treatment options, to advocate for and support informed patient choice and to promote public awareness regarding cancer risk reduction. Here's your Moon report!Today’s show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: [email protected]** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFY | STITCHERITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCASTITCHER: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/she-wants/i-want-what-she-has?refid=stpr’Follow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcastTWITTER * https://twitter.com/wantwhatshehas
