29. High Performing Anxiety, A Therapist's Lens - with Meg Rafuse (MSW, RSW)
from The Peaceful Mama Leads · host Emily Elliot, Mindset Coach
In this episode, we ‘pull back the veil’ on how most high functioning, ambitious women are ACTUALLY feeling. We talk about how it is time to start sharing how we are honestly feeling and that can include – feeling anxious, low mood, high stress and a medley of other emotions. (Yep, even wrapped under a giant smile and an ‘I am good’ are these tumultuous and tiring emotions). In this episode, Meg shares how even she, a well-respected therapist and CEO often can feel ‘not enough’, anxious and some imposter syndrome (and guess what, me too!) In this episode we break down some examples on perfection paralysis, how social media triggers t’he perfectionist’ brain, how it might feel as we get more ‘real’ in real life and online and things to do to help this feeling of anxiousness with a high performing personality. Meg is genuine, real, candid and full of gems. (And one of my favourite quotes from Meg in this interview is - “Success to me looks like not being overwhelmed all of the time.”) What if we changed the definition of success to ‘calm, present and grounded’ rather than the commonly held belief that success comes with one heck of a lot of stress, chaos and drama? There are so many great lessons in this interview. See you on the inside!
