    61. Healing from My Traumatic Birth Story

As the person who has always taken the holistic road in life, I planned my birth to be as natural as possible - I ate all of the dates, chugged raspberry tea, bounced on balls, curbed walked, did hypnobirthing courses and the list goes on. So how could I ever have imaged anything but a peaceful, intentional birth? After my birth continued and continued to turn sideways, I ended up with a highly medicalized birth that took my body a very long time to recover from. On top of the physical toll and the blood loss, came something I could have never in a million years imagined - deep shame. With the way by birth turned out, I could never share with anyone that I had failed as a woman. I deeply desired to keep this a secret. I was consumed by failure and shame and didn't even know what to do about it. It took 3.3 years to get here, but I am finally ready to process my birth story on episode 1 of The Magnetic Mama podcast. Thank you for being here, I am so grateful. 53. Early Imprints on The Nervous System, Grief & Navigating Change (With Dr. Spomenka Bizic)

Dr. Spomenka is a Naturopathic Doctor focused in resolving trauma and healing one's origin story. Her main modality is Somatic Experiencing - along with inner-parts work and nervous system education. She calls this healing work a return to your nature. She is a first generation immigrant and was a refugee for most of her childhood. She has experienced first hand the effects of war, poverty, trauma, and what takes to heal and become resilient.I have deeply healed, learned, received and experienced love, joy, and community. Her longing to find home, belonging and emotional health led her into the healing arts - she was pulled by the question and call of “what helps us heal our hearts, minds and bodies?”. How do we integrate and include our suffering (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual) and see it as an expression of our energy - our life force and vitality - instead of as simply disease - in a world where we have all and continue to encounter much challenge and imbalance. This is the question she holds space and works with. 43. What we should have been taught About our Fertility (With Dr. Kelsey Duncan, ND and Emily Elliot)

Why is it that we learn everything about parallelograms in school and nothing actually valuable about our female reproductive system and fertility? Beginning my fertility journey in 2019 I learned the hard way about the shocking lack of information that surrounds fertility. Even as a licensed naturopathic doctor at the time, I still found myself staring at the aisles in shoppers with overwhelm and dread - these sticks? Those sticks? No sticks? Lucky for me, one of my favourite friends from Naturopathic College had a ton of knowledge and special focus in fertility and I had her in my back pocket (yes, literally, my phone and facebook messenger in my back pocket! ;)) But so many friends were left in the dark trying to navigate this complicated time! And this is why I felt very passionate about bringing this episode to life. In this episode we discuss, the most shocking things that people discover when they begin their fertility journey, how to manage expectations as well as some of the best lifestyle and dietary decisions for your optimal fertility.
