Despite my best efforts to stay positive, I've been struggling with feelings of negativity and doubt due to difficult professional dynamics. I've felt overwhelmed by the harsh judgments and expectations of others, which has led me to question my worth and path. The Impact of Negativity It's human nature to let outside opinions impact us, and despite my efforts to keep a positive outlook, I've found myself succumbing to the negativity. This has been a cycle of self-doubt and sadness, fed by the harshness of a few, which I mistakenly allowed to overshadow the many positive aspects of my life. A Weekend of Revelation This past weekend, I experienced what I call a "Jesus wink" – a moment of clarity and reminder of the good surrounding me. Initially overshadowed by negativity, the weekend evolved into a profound reminder of all the beauty in my life. I realized how much I had let a small group's negativity cloud my perception of the overwhelming support and love I actually received. The Eagle's Lesson In seeking guidance and reassurance, I stumbled upon a story that perfectly encapsulated my situation: the tale of the eagle and the crow. The eagle doesn't take offense or even acknowledge the annoyance when a pecking crow is harassing it. Instead, it simply flies higher, reaching altitudes where the crow can no longer survive. This story hit home for me, symbolizing the power of rising above the fray and letting negativity fall away on its own. Embracing the Positives Reflecting on this, I've decided to shift my focus back to the positives, the 'roses' among the 'thorns.' It's easy to get caught up in the few negatives and overlook the abundance of good in our lives. This realization reignited my appreciation for everything I have and reminded me of the importance of focusing on the positive, no matter how loud the negatives seem. Moving Forward with Gratitude I want to encourage each of you to look around and appreciate the 'roses' in your own lives. Recognize the people who uplift you, the successes, big and small, and the quiet joys that fill your days. Let's rise like the eagle, higher and higher until the negativity can no longer reach us. Conclusion Thank you for joining me on this journey of reflection and rediscovery. I hope this episode serves as a reminder to focus on the positive, to rise above the challenges, and to embrace the love and light in your lives. Remember, we are all in this together, building a community where we support and uplift each other. I love you all and look forward to our continued journey together. Here's to rising above and letting our lights shine bright, unobstructed by the crows of the world.  Until next time, take care and keep cherishing those around you. Remember, we're in this together, and through sharing our stories, we find common ground and healing because This Is For Us.  I hope you love this episode xoxo

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
