3/4/25: Mos Def Talks Exploitation; Face of the NBA; Akademiks' Take on Female Rappers

As Yasiin Bey, AKA Mos Def, nears a musical comeback, he has unmuted to lament the state of the music industry, including streaming services, calling it out for exploitation because of how little artists receive for their work while the power structure reaps so much of the financial benefit. He says you start out passionate and an idealist before becoming disillusioned. Is he right, and is their a fix to the problem? Plus, you know we had to chime in on LeBron James' comments about the face of the NBA. He questions why a player would want such a distinction when the game is always criticized. Is he right? Elsewhere, DJ Akademiks made some interesting comments about female rappers, saying that music is not at the forefront for them because they can always cash in on sex and influencer status.
