“The young tween girls today want skincare as birthday gifts at their parties. That’s all they want: skincare, skincare, skincare,” says Dr. Lisa Klein. “This is a problem. Dr. Klein warns against using harsh products that can cause more harm than good and emphasizes the value of simple, age-appropriate routines for sensitive teen skin. It also involves having the conversation, educating your kids, and understanding that skincare is not just a toy—though I don’t know if ‘toy’ is the right word as they get older. I know my daughter enjoys doing ‘get ready with me’ and ‘get unready with me’ videos, and it becomes this whole thing where they do a haul of what they got.
