In this episode you'll learn to apply 3 simple words to help diffuse a potentially heated conversation. Those 3 words are, "That sounds frustration".Why This WorksWhen we're angry and upset, we want to be heard. We want our feelings acknowledged. We don't want to hear anything like, "You're over reacting".Saying, "That sounds frustrating" lets the other person know he or she is being heard and their feelings are being acknowledged.As the charged behavior begins to lesson, you can then say 3 more words. Those 3 words are: "Tell me more". Invite the other person to expand on why they're so upset to discover what is really beneath the initial reaction.Finally, you can re-validate their feelings by saying, "I can only imagine how that must have felt".Avoid saying, "I know how you feel", because you can't know how they feel.
