30. Look first for the good in people!

from The UPstander's Podcast with Dr. Omekongo · host Dr. Omekongo Dibinga

As we have seen in this past election, our politicians are bent on highlighting what is negative about their opponents. They have forgotten how to compromise and bring out their collective good. You don't have to be like them! When you meet someone, do you first think of reasons why you can't get along or do you think first of your commonalities? I have learned in life that your relationships are prone to be more productive if you approach situations with trust before suspicion. It doesn't mean that you walk blindly into a situation, but it means that you should approach people from the perspective of what you can first build instead of thinking what you can do to tear one another down.
