#30 Paralympian Lex Gillette, Finding Vision

from Happiness in Progress · host Danielle Craig

Today you'll meet Lex Gillette. Lex is a four-time silver medalist in the Paralympics for the long jump. What makes his feat especially incredible, is that he's blind. He is the current world record holder in the long jump and the only totally blind athlete to ever eclipse the 22-foot barrier in the long jump. He was just 8 years old when he lost his sight. He's a motivational speaker. His story has been featured on Sports Illustrated, USA Today, The New York Times and many more. We talk about what it was like to suddenly not be able to see, how he has been able to be so successful in a visual world, what it's like to walk out for the Paralympic games. And of course, something we can all take into our own lives - how you don't have to have sight to have a vision. Why it's important to follow your own vision and so much more.
