31. The Stigma Behind Men's Mental Health
from Bamble Ramble · host Sanya Mahajan
TW: This episode deals with some heavy topics like depression, suicide, sexual assault, and eating disorders. If these topics trigger you, please do not listen to this episode. In this episode, I am joined by Sujoy Menon and Rhea Malik. Sujoy and Rhea are both individuals very passionate about mental health, and in this episode they join me to talk about men's mental health and the stigma in society about men always being portrayed as the stronger ones. Every day, we see phrases being used such as "man up", with the men being traditionally viewed as the "head of the household". In this episode, we explore questions like "why do men tend to be quiet about mental health issues they struggle with?" and "Why do many of us seek validation from others?" While this episode focuses more on men's mental health and discusses female/nonbinary mental health as well, it is also important to note that mental health between genders should NEVER be compared. Whoever you are, whatever you identify as, your mental health struggles are valid. If you feel you are struggling, please reach out to a trusted friend, adult, or parent. We are all here for you and to listen and support you. You deserve to get the help you need <3. If you ever need someone to talk to, my DMs are always open - @bambleramblepodcast.
