from Create Your Now with Kristianne Wargo

Do you ever find yourself stuck in a cycle of doing the same things over and over again, even though deep down you know it's not bringing you the desired results? If your comfort zones aren't treating you well, prepare to pivot.  Because once in a while, it's important to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Our nutritional needs evolve, our physical capabilities may shift, and our sleep patterns may be disrupted. To adapt to these changes, we need to be willing to explore different approaches and embrace the unknown. The first step in preparing to pivot is recognizing that old habits die hard. It's natural for us to gravitate towards what we know, what feels safe and familiar. But true growth comes from challenging ourselves and pushing beyond our boundaries. Instead of fearing the unknown, embrace it as an opportunity for growth and discovery. When it comes to nutrition, it's important to listen to your body and give it what it needs. As we age, our bodies may require different nutrients and may be less tolerant of certain foods. Rather than adhering to rigid diets or strict meal plans, focus on nourishing your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods. Incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats into your meals. Pay attention to how certain foods make you feel and adjust accordingly. Exercise is another area where we need to be open to change. Our bodies may no longer respond to the same type of exercise routines that we used to do. Instead of sticking to what feels comfortable, challenge yourself with new workouts and training techniques. Try incorporating strength training to maintain muscle mass, balance and flexibility exercises to improve mobility, and cardiovascular activities that get your heart rate up. Remember, the goal is not to be perfect but to consistently show up for yourself and make progress. Lastly, never underestimate the power of quality sleep. As we age, our sleep patterns may change, and getting enough rest becomes even more important. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, create a sleep-friendly environment, and make quality sleep a priority. If you struggle with sleep disturbances, consider consulting with a healthcare professional for guidance and support. The K.I.S.S. ~ Prepare to pivot! Preparing to pivot requires a mindset of openness, self-reflection, and a willingness to experiment. Here are three key steps to begin identifying what isn't working and pivot toward what can escalate your desired goals: 1. Self-Reflection and Assessment Take some time to reflect on your current routines, habits, and results. Ask yourself honest questions: What has been working well for you? What hasn't? Are there areas where you feel stagnant or unsatisfied? This self-assessment will provide clarity on what needs to change for you to move forward. 2. Seek New Perspectives and Knowledge To pivot successfully, it's essential to seek new perspectives and knowledge outside of your comfort zone. Engage in self-education by reading books, listening to podcasts, or attending workshops related to your goals. Explore different viewpoints, research alternative methods, and seek advice from experts in the field. This will broaden your understanding and help you discover new approaches. 3. Identify and Challenge Limiting Beliefs Often, we limit ourselves by sticking to what we perceive as "typical" or "normal." To escalate what you are going after, challenge these assumptions and open yourself to unconventional changes. Consider areas where you have felt resistance or where you haven't explored fully. It could be trying a new form of exercise, adopting a different approach to problem-solving, or experimenting with innovative nutritional strategies. By stepping outside of the conventional, you may uncover transformations and breakthroughs you hadn't anticipated. Remember, preparing to pivot requires a growth mindset – one that embraces change, accepts challenges, and remains open to new possibilities. It's not about striving for perfection but rather being adaptable and willing to learn from both successes and failures. Cheers to progress! By actively seeking, reflecting, and making intentional changes, you set yourself on the path to discovering what works best for you and unlocking your full potential.  So, prepare to pivot, and let the journey of self-discovery and transformation begin.
