#32 - Jeremy Walker: 175km Around King Island

from Human Being School · host Nick Costantino

In this episode, I’m joined by a great friend and former colleague, Jeremy Walker. Jeremy and I worked together for three years as P.E., Health, and Outdoor Education teachers at Elwood College, sharing a passion for inspiring others and living active lives. Today, he’s still teaching, but now he’s based on King Island, where his love for surfing, fishing, and endurance running thrives. While many know Jeremy as a former professional soccer player, having played for Melbourne Heart and several NPL clubs, today he’s tackling a different kind of challenge. Jeremy’s about to take on a massive endurance run around King Island, all to raise awareness and funds for myalgic encephalomyelitis, a cause that’s deeply personal to him. In our conversation, Jeremy talks about what inspired this run and how his experiences on the 62km Takayna Trail have prepared him for what lies ahead. He also opens up about his connection to the cause, sharing why it’s important to him and how listeners can support his mission. In This Episode, We Discuss: The journey from our days as teaching colleagues to Jeremy’s new life on King Island Jeremy’s career as a professional soccer player and how those experiences shaped his approach to endurance challenges How his love of surfing and fishing led him to King Island and what keeps him connected to the island lifestyle His motivations for running around King Island and raising awareness for encephalomyelitis The physical and mental preparation needed to tackle such a monumental challenge Jeremy’s advice on using one’s passions for a meaningful purpose and how listeners can support his journey Where to Find Jeremy: Instagram @jeremyrosswalker Support Jeremy’s Cause: Donation Link Connect with me: Instagram: @cosi.nick or @humanbeingschool Human Being School - Linktree Modex Natural - Instagram Modex Natural - Website (code: NCOS15 for 15% off your first order) Don’t forget to subscribe, rate, and review "Human Being School" on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your favourite podcasts!
