342. Last Week, This Week, Next Week

from Lured Up - A Pokémon GO Podcast · host Pickaxe

Lured Up Podcast 342: Last Week, This Week, Next Week Live Streamed on - 4/2/2025 We are working out an updated format to the show this week, starting off with our news segment called, “Last Week, This Week, Next Week”, where we recap the last week of gameplay, discuss the current events, and prep for what’s to come. The event sand news cycle can be overwhelming in Pokémon GO, so while we will always touch on news as it is released, we will be closing our timeline of coverage to make each episode a bit more relevant to the week of its release. We recap our experiences with the Bug Out and Fuzzy Buddy Research Day, as well as both of our lack of Shinies from the makeup Catch Mastery research. One thing that has been keeping the momentum of the game moving along nicely is the consistent release of new Pokémon, forms, or Shinies. It seemed like we had a few months of limited new releases, so it is nice to see Might & Mastery coming through with some fresh content. The big topic of the week is a look into Niantic’s current monetization strategy, with the release of the Powered Up Ticket, GO Pass, and Reward Road this month. Could this change the spending habits of Trainers? We discuss whether or not this may make you spend more or less, and if having free to play options is enough to keep the FOMO away. In the end, our gameplay experience may improve because of it, but we may have to pay the price of admission.
