36. Understanding the ICF
from Life Coaching Secrets · host Frank Macri
While there is no regulation for the coaching industry, we do have a governing body. That governing body is known as the International Coach Federation (ICF). While the ICF does not regulate the industry, they do create a standard for ethics and professionalism so that coaches operate with integrity. The ICF also does not train coaches, but they do provide accreditation to certain programs that meet their standards and Code of Ethics. It is not easy for a program to receive accreditation with the ICF, but Thriving Coach Academy has earned its highest level of accreditation. When it comes to having credibility as a coach, it is essential you receive certification from a program accredited by the ICF. In this episode, we demystify the ICF and share with you all that you need to know about establishing credibility as a coach.
