3695 How Words Shape Your World

from Create Your Now with Kristianne Wargo

Words have power and influence our daily actions. What we tell ourselves and others becomes sticky in our brains. No wonder you have more problems than you do hope, because of how words shape your world. In our everyday lives, our words play a crucial role in shaping our reality. From how we talk to ourselves to how we communicate with others, language can influence our thoughts, actions, and surroundings. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Change your words, change your life! **How Words Shape Your Environment** Our choice of words can create a narrative that informs how we perceive the world around us. Research in neuroscience has shown that the language we use can directly impact our brain's processing, influencing our emotions and behavior. How you feel dictates how you act. By cultivating a vocabulary that is empowering and positive, we can construct a more optimistic and authentic reality for ourselves. **Establishing Credibility Through Language** The words we use not only shape our external environment but also establish credibility and self-perception within ourselves. Studies have indicated that positive self-talk can boost self-esteem and performance, while negative self-talk can hinder progress and create self-doubt. By consciously choosing words that inspire confidence and belief in our abilities, we can enhance our sense of self-worth and accomplishments. **Overcoming Negative Vocabulary** Many individuals struggle with negative self-talk, perpetuating a cycle of self-limiting beliefs and behaviors. By becoming aware of our internal dialogue and challenging negative thoughts, we can begin to reframe our words and beliefs in a more constructive light. This process of cognitive restructuring allows us to replace harmful language patterns with affirming and empowering vocabulary. A good friend of mine, named Marianne Renner, wrote a book called Self-Talk. One that you should pick up. She also shares the SEAR Framework: Story + Emotion + Action + Result. If we slow down enough and really pay attention to what we are saying, maybe we will hear how horribly we treat ourselves with our words. And if you are in that position, maybe you need to take a look and rewire your vocabulary. The K.I.S.S. ~ Rewire your brain! This is where you give yourself different words to use on a daily basis. Now, you might be good with the majority of your words, but there could be a few words or phrases that need to be overhauled.  Three Steps to Wordsmithing Your Life 1. Mindful Awareness: Start by paying attention to the words you use regularly, both in your interactions with others and in your internal dialogue. Notice any recurring negative or self-defeating phrases and make a conscious effort to replace them with more positive and encouraging language. 2. Affirmation Practice: Incorporate daily affirmations into your routine to rewire your brain for positivity and success. Choose affirming statements that align with your goals and values, and repeat them regularly to reinforce a mindset of confidence and resilience. 3. Build With Kindness: Words create the framework of the actions that follow. If you can be honest with kindness, that helps to handle stuff that's hurtful, whether you thought it or someone else said it. It's no longer about what is being said, but rather about what is being heard in your mind that constructs your emotional and behavioral reaction. You want to be kind in your mind; build with kindness. By transforming our vocabulary and aligning our language with our aspirations, we can harness the transformative power of words to shape a more purpose-driven and fulfilling life. Start today by becoming intentional with the language you use and witness the profound impact it can have on your mindset and environment. "Be present. Be incredible.
