38. Golf Update and Summer Goals with Kim & Tara

from T-Time with Tori Totlis

Tori sits down with Kim and Tara to talk about what they expect going into the upcoming Arizona Four-Ball and the Arizona Senior Open. Kim and Tara, who are partnering up for the Four-Ball championship, discuss their game plan and pre-round routine.  Tara then shares her experience going through the P.J. Boatwright Internship Program as a college sophomore and how it affected her golf career going forward. She also talks about her recent drive to once again qualify for the Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship.  Finally, Tori, Kim, and Tara talk about the challenge of getting the 2022 Women’s Mid-Amateur to push through, followed by their goals for the summer.  Key Highlights When playing with a partner, don’t put pressure on yourself. There are no “sorrys” in partner golf. If one partner makes a mistake at a hole, the other partner is there to close that gap and provide support. Tara explains that caddies don’t necessarily need to know a lot about golf. A newcomer can learn a lot just by spending enough time on the green and staying observant. When scouting out a club, don’t be afraid to ask if anyone’s in need of a caddie, because more often than not, someone’s looking. Golf is an emotional game, and like with any sport, no one likes to lose. Tori reminds us that it’s actually after the greatest losses that the most valuable lessons are learned. It’s okay to be competitive, even among friends. But it’s definitely tough (and often awkward) to compete against friends. That discomfort goes away over time as long as everyone remembers that competition ends when the game ends. You can also watch the episode on YouTube HERE.
