In other words, the person you’re presenting yourself as? Not really you. 🙅🏻‍♀️ Maybe the most insidious thing about people pleasing is that a lot of people who are actually people pleasing don't even know it. Pleasing often looks like “just being nice”. It might even look and feel like empathy. But what it actually is, is a negation of yourself with a capital S: your needs, your values, your desires. When we sacrifice ourselves for external approval, we will end up resentful, angry, frustrated and unclear in every regard in our lives. The good news?
