In Nederland krijgt ongeveer 1 op de 5 vrouwen geen kinderen. Dat heeft verschillende en zeer persoonlijke oorzaken, van gewenst tot on-gewenst, tot iets daartussenin. De stilte rondom hen is oorverdovend, omdat de meerderheid nu eenmaal wél een kind krijgt. De maatschappelijke nadruk op het moederschap is enorm. We weten eigenlijk maar weinig over al die vrouwen voor wie het leven er heel anders uitziet.
