When they lived in Judah before they didn’t fast because life was good. When as slaves they fasted because they were in troubles. Don’t we all do the same…..we need God more when things are not going our way. People fast for many reasons. If we ponder on this for a bit…we can easily know that some fast for health reasons, some for beauty reasons, some just to be seen by others and then some as just a ritual. Real fasting is actually a ministry that we do for Lord.
