40. Investment 2: Community

“Some people think they are in community, but they are only in proximity. True community requires commitment and openness. It’s a willingness to extend yourself to encounter another” - David Spangler. When I was looking for a quote about community, this one resonated with me so much, because it reminded me of me. For years I thought I had heaps of friends, all the friends, and I was part of lots of groups of people. But when I experienced hard times, I realised who my real friends were… But what I also realised is that I had never extended myself or really opened myself up to other people.
