408. Job - Chapter #4 - Do Not put your Confidence in Unfaithful Man - October 25, 2023

from Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley · host Bill Kelley

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 25. I will then key in on verse 19 - Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint. Friends, we will continue our study on the Book of Job. We hear first from Eliphaz, probably the oldest (and wisest) of Job's three friends. After reading all of Chapter 4, I will bring up three points: 1. We are to choose our friends carefully - when we have problems or issues come up in our lives we usually seek counsel. Who you seek counsel from can make all the difference in the world how you will come out of that situation. We need to have friends that are trustworthy and that want the best for us. 2. Eliphaz presumed that Job had sinned. Verse 8 of the 4th Chapter of Job is very similar to Galatians, Chapter 6: verse 7. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. He is suggesting to Job that this has happened to him because of some sin in his life. This was a faulty assumption. 3. Eliphaz uses a vision that he has had to bring more substance to the advice that he gives to Job. Friends, when we seek advice or counsel from friends, we are to have an open mind. Sometimes the advice they give might be good and worth listening to. Other times, we have to use discernment and not follow that advice. Call to action: Ask yourself do you have a close friend that you can call on in your time of need? Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 25 in its entirety; 2. Reread today's chapter, Job Chapter 4.
