Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 18. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, Alexandra Lemieux. Alexandra is a fellow 2nd year Charis Bible College student. She was on previously on February 21, 2023. I would highly encourage anyone listening to take the time and listen to her initial podcast. (It was really good!) prior to listening to today's podcast. Alexandra talks about IAGs (Inter-active groups) has helped her to grow this year and describes the pleasure she felt when she saw some of the younger students growing in their relationship with the Lord. She then goes over the benefits of having been on a mission trip this year. She talks about what the Lord has been telling her recently and her plans for the future.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 17. I will then key in on verse 27 - He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Friends, our words can get us into trouble. What this verse is telling us is to limit the number of words that come out of our mouth. I also advise you to choose your words carefully. Secondly, when things happen in life that you were not expecting, don't automatically go into a frenzy. Instead, take a deep breath, count to ten, ponder what has happened, reflect on it, and adjust accordingly - and I believe if you learn to do this on a regular basis, that your life will go much better for you. On today's podcast, I begin my study on the book of James. I will be covering James on today's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's, podcasts. James was not a disciple of Jesus, but probably knew Jesus better than any of the disciples. That's because he grew up with Jesus and probably lived with him for 15-20 years prior to Jesus beginning his public ministry. Today, I will go over Chapters 1 & 2 and read several key verses that we can learn from (Chapter 1: verses 3, 5, 22; Chapter #2: verses 14-17. Call to Action - close your eyes for one minute and ponder what it must have been like to be James and to be raised in the same home that Jesus was raised in. Suggested scripture reading: reread today's proverb, Proverb 17, in its entirety; 2. read James, Chapters 1 & 2 in their entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 14. I will then key in on verse 12 - There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. When I think of this verse I think of people who live their lives as though God does not exist. These people live their lives making their own decisions and in their own might. Conversely, if we look at Proverb 3: verses 5 and 6, the Bible tells us that we are to trust in the Lord, and lean not on our own strength. Friends, if we invite Jesus into our lives, and allow Him into our hearts, and make Him the Lord of our lives, our lives will tend to go a lot better. I will then read Genesis Chapter 12: verses 18-25. These verses tell us that God intended for man and woman to come together and form a union as man and wife. For anyone listening to this podcast today that are living together (and not married) I invite you to consider the possibility of getting married. I go over a conversation I had with a young man this past week that has been living with his girlfriend for the past four years and mentioned to me that they had separated on a number of occasions over these past four years because he felt there wasn't the "intention" of a permanent relationship. He told me that they are now considering getting married. I believe that the actual celebration of marriage with the guy's and girl's close friends and family help solidify and strengthen the relationship. I then go over the importance of taking vacations together as a couple (or as a family if you have children). My wife and I have now been to 49 states together and each vacation that we take together strengths our relationship and draws us closer together.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 13. I will then key in on verse 3 - He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. Friends, the words that we speak are so vitally important. I believe that the words that we speak can bring forth death (Proverb 18:21) or they can bring forth life. Please be mindful of how important your words are and think carefully before speaking words to anyone. Today we will continue our study on people who showed humility in the New Testament. Today, we will be looking at Luke, the author of the gospel of Luke, as well as the Book of Acts. Together these books comprise 27.5% of the New Testament. Luke was not a disciple of Jesus. As a matter of fact he never even met Jesus. But Luke became a very good friend and companion of Paul - who wrote 13 of the letters of the New Testament. He was with Paul until the very end of his life. Luke was born a Greek - thus he was a Gentile. He is the only Gentile author of all of the books of the Bible. Luke was a physician and is venerated by the Catholics as the Patron Saint of physicians and surgeons. He was very thorough and the gospel of Luke is known for its accuracy. Today we will take a look at two of the most famous parables that are only found in Luke's gospel - the parable of the Good Samaritan (I will read Chapter 10: verses 25-37) and the parable of the Prodigal Son (I will read Chapter 15:verses 11-32). What we learn from these two parables is that we are all human, and thus imperfect. The Good Samaritan teaches us that we may be disappointed if we have expectations of certain people, and that we can't discount anyone. Many times the people we think we can trust can not be trusted and the people who we think are not important can end up being very important in our lives. The prodigal son teaches us that Jesus cares about each and every one os us. He doesn't care where you've been or what you've done, He wants to receive you into His family which are known as Christians. My call to action is simply to ponder these two parables and ask yourself how you would have reacted had you been in these two situations. Suggested scripture readings: 1. Reread today's proverb, Proverb 13; 2. reread both chapters #10 & #15 of Luke's gospel.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will go over Proverb 12. I will then key in on verse 26 - The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray. This verse reminds me of Psalm 1 and the importance of seeking advice from Godly people. I will read Psalm 1 and go over the first three verses which portray that choosing council from Godly individuals will result in a prosperous life. I will then go over verses 4-6 which show that if we seek council from unGodly people that things will not go well for us. Choosing our friends carefully, I believe, is one of the most important decisions that we will have to continually making throughout our life. Today we will take a look at St. Mark - the author of Mark's gospel. We know that Mark was a follower of Jesus (although he was not one of the original 12 disciples). We do know that he was probably an older teenager while Jesus was performing his public ministry. We know that Mark's family was very involved in the ministry of Jesus and that he was present in Cana when Jesus performed his first recorded miracle. I will go over two proverbs that are only found in Mark's gospel (both found in Chapter #4). The first is entitled the "Growing Seed" (I will read verses 26-29 and the commentary in my Bible that goes with it). I will then read the next parable the "Mustard Seed" (I will read verses 30-32 and the commentary in my Bible that goes with it). I will then go over a couple stories that relate to Mark, and how he led his father into believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Call to Action - I will ask everyone to take a brief moment and ponder what it must have been like being Mark and living during that time period when Jesus was on Earth.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 11. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, John Fant. John is a fellow 2nd year Charis Bible College student. This is the third time John has been on the podcast (he was previously on May 31, 2022 and April 4, 2023). I suggest you not listen to this podcast prior to listening both of the previous podcasts. John discusses how he ended up at Charis Bible College. He talks about that "sweet spot" and being right where you are supposed to be. He then discusses the relationship he has with his new wife and what the future holds in store for him.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 10. I will then key in on verse 27 - The fear of the Lord prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. Friends, a common them in Proverbs is that if you walk with the fear of the Lord, or is you have wisdom that you will have a long life. Conversely, if you do not have a fear of the Lord and do not have wisdom that your days will be shortened, or that you will not have a long life. These two go hand in hand. It is important to have a reverent fear of the Lord, and that you walk in wisdom. Today we will take a look at the life of John the Baptist (the cousin of Jesus). I will make reference to the 40th chapter of the prophet Isaiah - who foretold the coming of John the Baptist (in verses 1-6). I will begin today's podcast by reading from the Gospel of Luke, Chapter #1: verses 57-66. These verses tell of the birth of John the Baptist. I will then read the prophecy that the father of John the Baptist spoke over his son John. In this passage (Chapter #1: verses 67-80) Zecharias talks about the coming of Jesus and tells us his son will make ready the way of the Lord. I will then go over the story of when John the Baptist humbles himself. Some of John's followers are complaining that Jesus (and his disciples) are also baptizing in the same river as they are. John tells his followers that Jesus must increase, and that he must decrease. In this story (Gospel of John, Chapter #3, verses 22-36) John tells us that the purpose for which he was called has come to pass and that now he will give the baton to Jesus. He tells his followers that Jesus is greater than he is (because he is from Heaven). Call to Action - For one minute, think what it must have been like 2,000 years ago when this story happened. Put yourself there and imagine how you would feel. Suggested scripture reading. Read the 40th chapter of Isaiah and then read the 1st chapter of Luke (and try to make the connection between the two prophecies found in those two chapters).

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Proverb 7. I will then key in on verse 1 - My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Friends, this verse tells us the importance of reading the Bible. If we make a habit of reading the Bible on a regular basis we will begin to renew our minds. That is what today's podcast is all about. I will begin by reading 2 Timothy Chapter 3: verses 16 & 17. These verses tell us that every word written in the Bible is inspired by God and that they are good for our instruction and will begin to change the thoughts in our mind which have been instilled in us by everything that has been placed into our minds our entire lives. I will then go over Romans, Chapter 12 and read verses 1 & 2. These two verses tell us that we should make our bodies a living sacrifice. They also tell us that we need to have our minds renewed. We are a spirit (as a matter of fact we have the same spirit in us that raised Jesus from the dead). Unfortunately, we also have a soul. Our soul encompasses our mind, will, and emotions. This sourish realm of ours is influenced by everything we've been taught by our teachers in elementary school, our teachers in middle school, our teachers in high school, the friends that we've been influenced by our entire lives, and what we've learned by our parents. Everything that had been placed into our minds our entire lives that is not according to scripture needs to be renewed to agree with the word of God. There is no shortcut. In order to truly have our minds renewed we need to make a habit of reading scripture on a regular basis. Reading (or listening) to the Proverb of the day every day is a good start. Suggested scripture reading - tomorrow read Proverb #8 and Sunday read Proverb #9.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 6. I will then key in on verse 20 - My son, keep your father's command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Friends, the Bible tells us that we are to honor our parents. Regardless of the relationship you have with your parents, they will always care for you and wish that you have good lives and that you are successful. We should do them the honor of listening to what they have to say and honor them by following their directives. Today I will continue my study on humility by looking at Joseph, the husband of Mary, and the father of Joseph. I will begin by reading Mathew: Chapter 1: verses 18-25. Within these verses is the account of an angel of the Lord paying a visitation to Joseph. The angel told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife. My this simple demonstration of following this advice, Joseph showed humility. He could have rejected this idea, he could have humiliated Mary and could have had her stoned. However, he chose to take her as his wife and the rest is history. Jesus was born, he became the Savior of the world, and eventually died on a cross so that anyone who believed on Him would have all of their sins forgiven and had their relationship with God restored.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 5. I will then go over verses 18-20 - Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times, And always be enraptured with her love. For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress? Friends, the grass is NOT always greener on the other side of the fence. My wife and I have recently celebrated our 27th anniversary and our marriage is better than it's ever been! There is no reason for either of us to look at any other person (of the opposite sex). I treat my wife as though she is the most important person in the world (because she is). She honors me, and I honor her. If you treat each other that way, your marriage will continue to improve. Today we will take a closer look at Mary, the mother of Jesus. I will open by reading Luke, Chapter 1 and read from verses 26-45. This is the account of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary and informing her that she has been given the opportunity to be the son of God. What an honor! Mary gladly accepts. I will read commentaries pertaining to several verses in this passage of scripture to give the audience things to ponder about this wonderful story. In closing, I ask everyone listening to consider Mary, and what it must have been like over 2,000 years ago when this story happened. Tomorrow we will take a closer look at Mary's husband, Joseph.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be sharing Proverb 4. I will then introduce you to my special guests for the day, Tony and Jeannine Leonard. Tony and Jeannine are first years students at Charis Bible College. They are both from Iowa and met when they were in high school. Tony went on to College and they married shortly after. Tony soon went into the military and spent 23 years serving our country. Jeannine raised two boys. They share their story and how they were drawn to Charis Bible College. They are now completing their first year here.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 3. I will then key in on verses 19 & 20 - The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. These two verses tell us that knowledge, understanding, and wisdom were around at the very foundation of when the Earth came into existence! This tells us how important having these in our lives is to God. Today I will begin looking at people in the New Testament who demonstrated in their lives. I will begin with Matthew, a tax collector. Being a tax collector, Matthew was despised by most of the Israelites of his time. He had a tax collector's booth in the town of Capernaum. He had to pay a certain fee to the Roman government, but after that was free to keep all of the monies he collected. He definitely took advantage of that. He became very wealthy, had all he could possible desire in terms of material things, but in his heart he was missing something. One day, the man Jesus looked directly into his eyes and his life changed simply by two words that came out of the mouth of Jesus, " Follow me." From that point on his life would never be the same. As Jesus called Matthew, today He is calling each and everyone of us to "follow Him." I will begin reading Matthew, Chapter 9, verses 9-13 and read the verses when Jesus called Matthew into ministry. I will then read about a few of Matthew's most well-known passages of scripture: Chapters 5:11-12 - these verses tell us that if we choose to follow Jesus that persecution will follow. We need to make up our minds that following Jesus is more important than pleasing man; 2. Chapter 6: verses 9-13 - Jesus gives the Lord's Prayer and teaches us the model way to pray to God; 3. Chapter 7:verses 24-27 - these verses tell us that we are to build our lives on the Rock - the foundation of our lives should be on following Jesus and the commands He has given us. I will close with the last chapter of Matthew, Chapter 28, and read verses 18-20. These verses tell us that we are to make disciples of all nations - not just converts, but we are to take people that we lead to Christ under our wing and to teach them how to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill and Judy Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 31. Judy and I will then go over the past year and how our lives have changed due to beginning this podcast. This is the 260th episode of this podcast that I have published since the Holy Spirit instructed me to begin this podcast on April 1st of last year. We discuss how each of us have changed. We then discuss how having people come over and share their testimonies on Tuesdays have resulted in many new friendships which we will have for the rest of our lives. I invite each of you to begin tuning in on a regular basis - especially if you are not pleased with any aspect of your life. I promise to encourage everyone that listens on a regular basis.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 30.  I will then key in on verses 2 & 3 - Surely I am more stupid than any man, And do not have the understanding of a man. I neither learned wisdom Nor have knowledge of the Holy One.  Friends, these two verses go hand in hand.  What they are telling us is that we are to seek wisdom above anything else.  If we develop wisdom in all areas of our life our life will go much better.  These verses also tell us that we are to have knowledge and seek Jesus.  Today I will close out my study on people who demonstrated humility in the Old Testament with the story of Hosea.  God called Hosea to be a prophet, but also to marry a woman named Gomer - telling him in advance that she would be unfaithful to him and eventually leave him.  (I will read Hosea, Chapter 1, and read verses 2-9).  In Chapter 2, Gomer leaves Hosea to fulfill the lusts of her flesh (meaning she is going to seek other men - and thus to become unfaithful to her husband).  In Chapter 3, Hosea ends up buying Gomer back from a man.  He tells her that she will no longer have relations with any man (including Gomer himself for a certain period of time).  I will read Chapter 3, verses 1-5.  In Chapter #4 God brings a charge against Israel and states that, not only have the people of God been unfaithful to God, but that the priests have been guilty of leading the people astray (I will read Chapter 4, verses 4-6).  Hosea ends on a good note, however.  I will read Chapter 14, verses 4-8 and see that God envisions a time when Israel will eventually come back to God and begin following his commands once again.  Hosea is a perfect picture of what humility looks like - meaning obeying the call of God that He has placed on your life.  Call to Action:  Ask God if there is anything that you need to get rid of in your life, and also ask Him if you are doing what He has asked you to do.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 29.  I will then key in on verse 23 - A man's pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.  Friends, in the book of Proverbs, there are numerous occasions when they make a comparison between someone who is walking in pride and someone who is walking in humility.  If you are in pride, you will be brought to destruction, you will have a fall, you will be brought low, etc.  If you walk in humility, you will retain honor (as this verse tells us), you will be raised, or brought to a place of honor.  This tells us which one is the right one to do.  So let's humble ourselves and learn to walk in humility.  Today we will continue our podcast which I began on Monday (learning about a young Jewish man named Daniel).  In Chapter #4, the king has his second dream - which Daniel is able to interpret for him.  The king is walking in pride and God is going to remover his kingdom from him.  However, God is gracious, and tells the king that when he humbles himself that his kingdom will then be restored to him.  Eventually the king dies, and his son is promoted to the position of king.  But, like his father, he, too is walking in pride and God is going to take his kingdom from him.  Daniel interprets a dream that this king has and the king ends up being slain that night.  The new king, Darius, seeks council from Daniel and promotes him over all others in the kingdom.  This creates envy from the other leaders and they plot a plan that will have Daniel thrown into a den will deadly lions.  In short order, Daniel is, indeed, thrown into this den full of lions.  However, God smiled on Daniel, and did not allow the lions to harm him.  The king is ever so thankful.  Daniel is a reminder of how it is we are to walk.  He humbled himself throughout the book of Daniel.  We should do the same.  Call to Action - seek God and ask Him if there is anything in your life that you need to get rid of.  If so, humble yourself before Him.  Suggested scripture reading - read Chapters 4-6 of Daniel.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, Justin Stehower. Justin is a first year Charis Bible College student. Justin shares how he was raised in a family where his dad and mom were pastors of a church. He had a happy childhood and he talks about the pressures that he had being raised as a pastor's kid. He talks about how he went to adventurous activities upon his graduation from high school. He talks about how he was led to come to Charis Bible College and how being here has changed his life.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 27.  I will then key in on verse 17 - As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.  Friends, it is vital that we have one or two close friends that we can be accountable to.  These friends should allow you to pray for them (and they pray for you) when there are issues in your life that you are dealing with.  The main point I want to emphasize is that it takes humility to have these friends.  Having these relationships shows that we are vulnerable and demonstrate that we admit that we can not deal with all the issues of life on our own.  Today we will take a look at a young man named Daniel in the Old Testament.  Daniel lived about 2500 years ago and he, as well as thousands of others, had been taken away as captives from the land of Judah and taken to a foreign land.  Daniel was a young Jewish man who knew who the God of Israel was.  He was faithful to him, and was not about to turn away from him just because he was being taken to a foreign land.  I will begin reading in Daniel, Chapter 1, and read verses 8-21.  Daniel humbled himself before his God and asked that he (and his three friends) be treated differently than the other young men where they were in captivity.  After 10 days, the man in charge realized that these young Jewish men seemed to be in better health than the same ages men from that country.  In addition, the king noticed how intelligent and full of wisdom these young men were.  King Nebuchadnessar has a dream - but the key astrologers of the land were unable to interpret the dream of the king.  The king decides to kill all of the wise men of the kingdom - but Daniel intervenes and interprets the king's dream for him.  The king shows favor to Daniel by promoting him (and his three young friends).  The king then makes a 90-foot tall idol depicting himself and states that anyone that will not bow down to this idol will be thrown into a fiery furnace.  When told that Daniel's three friends refuse to bow down to the idol, they are brought before the king.  They tell the king that they will never bow down to the idol.  They are immediately thrown into the fiery furnace, but are not harmed by the fire.  Rather, they are removed from the fire and they do not even smell of smoke.  Suggested scripture reading -  Please read the first three chapters of the Book of Daniel.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 24.  I will then key in on verse 5 - A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength.  Friends, this verse is a strong reminder as to why the Lord had me to begin this podcast.  He impressed upon me that all people are in need of wisdom.  Thankfully, most people realize that they do have need of wisdom.  I then continue to share my testimony which I began last Friday (if you did not get a change to listen to the podcast of March 17th, please listen to that prior to listening to this).  I share how my wife and I ended up at Charis Bible College, and go over the changes in our lives that have taken place because of that decision.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 23.  I will then key in on verse 17 - Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day;  Friends, if we are walking in humility, we are not going to be envious of sinners around us.  The  things that they are doing (whether they are against the law, or whether they are lacking in morality, or whether they have to do with sexual immorality, we are not to be enticed by that.  If we simply do the things that would be pleasing to God, we will be fine.  Today we will be looking at the prophet Ezekiel.  He was a priest, but God called him to be a prophet and a "watchman" for the people of Israel.  When Ezekiel begin his public ministry, the people of Israel had been taken away captive to the land of Babylon.  (I will read Chapter 3: verses 16-21 when God called Ezekiel to be a "watchman" for Israel.  I will then read Chapter 4: verses 4-6 where God has called Ezekiel to lie on his left side for 390 days, and then turn over and lay on his right side for 40 additional days (this will represent the nest 430 years where the Israelites would be under Gentile rule.  I will then read Chapter #18: verses 19-20.  These two verses tell us that we will all be held accountable for our actions.  If we ourselves sin, we will be held accountable.  If our parents sin, they will be held accountable.  We will not be held accountable for each others' sins.  Finally I will close with the 34th chapter of Ezekiel: verses 11-16.  These verses tell us about the faithfulness of God.  If we are faithful to Him, and following His commands, we will be OK - regardless of whether everyone around us is sinning.  Hallelujah!  Call to Action:  pay a compliment today to someone who looks like they could use it or lend a helping hand to someone who also looks like they could use it.  Suggested scripture reading:  read the 37th chapter of the Book of Ezekiel in its entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 22.  I will then key in on verse 4 - By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.  By humility I am talking about putting the needs of others as more important than what your needs are.  Very few people think that way.  The fear of the Lord means that you have come to the conclusion that God is God and I am not.  If you life your life doing both of the above, the Bible then promises that we will have riches and honor and life.  Today we will take a look at the prophet Jeremiah.  Jeremiah agreed to the call of God on his life and served as a prophet to all of the land of Israel (as well as the Southern Kingdom of Judah) for 40 year - between the years 626 BC to 586 BC.  I will read the passage of scripture where Jeremiah is ordained to be the prophet of Israel (Chapter 1:  verses 5-10).  In the world's eyes no one would consider Jeremiah as being successful.  He was poor, he was rejected by his family, his friends, the false prophets, and the kings.  He was thrown into prison, he was thrown into a cistern, and he was taken away captive into the land of Egypt.  And yet, in God's eyes, he was one of the most successful people of all time.  Because, in God's eyes He looks at everything through the "filter" of obedience and faithfulness.  Jeremiah was obedient (to the call of God) and was faithful to Him (regardless of the fact that really no one listened to him during his entire ministry.  I was you to hear the heart of Jeremiah (I will read Chapter 16: verses 19-21).  I want you to read his prophecy about the coming of Jesus (I will read Chapter 23: verses 5-6).  Jeremiah was a portrait of what being humble looks like.  I will close this study by reading Chapter 29: verses 10-14 - these verses tell us that God has a purpose and plan for each one listening to this podcast today.  CALL to ACTION - I ask that you seek God in prayer and ask Him what He would have you do (that you may not have started doing).  Suggested scripture reading - Reread the 29th chapter of Jeremiah in its entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 21. I will then introduce you to my special guests for the day, John and Lisa Adams. John and Lisa are both on staff at Charis Bible College and have been married two years. They each talk about their upbringing and where they come from. They each talk about their first marriages and give the account of how both of their first spouses died. This, as it turns out, brought them together. They each share their own perspective as to how that happened and how they each came to where they are now at Charis Bible College.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 20.  I will then key in on verse 7 - The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.  Friends, when I think of a righteous man, I think of someone who has integrity.  I believe integrity and humility are very similar.  I believe to have integrity means that you will do the right thing (whether anyone is watching you, or not) and humility is thinking about other people before thinking about yourself - both very solid traits to have.  Today, I will go over the prophet Isaiah - the greatest prophet.  He humbled himself before God and offered to work for Him (I will read Chapter 6: verses 1-8).  Isaiah served God as a prophet for 60 years (from 740 BC to 680 BC - when he was executed).  He foretold the coming of John the Baptist (I will read Chapter 40: verses 3-5).  He told the people He would be with them (I will read verse 41: verse 10).  Isaiah also foretold the coming of Jesus and spoke of the coming Messiah more than any other OT prophet.  I will close by reading Chapter 55: verses 6-13.  These verses remind us that God is God, and we are not.  He also tells us that His word will never return void, and that it will accomplish what He would want to accomplish.  This is why we need to dig into the Word of God on our own.  It will encourage and strengthen us and help activate our faith.  CALL to ACTION - I want you to think about what it must have been like to be this famous prophet, and how you would like to go out for 60 years and serve God, even when you are not well received.  Suggested scripture reading:  Please reread the 55th chapter of the Book of Isaiah in its entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 17.  I will then go over verse 28.  Friends, our words are so important.  I can't overemphasize how important it is to think about the words that we speak prior to speaking.  Proverb 18:21 tells us that:  Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.  Our words can bring forth life (we can say words that encourage people and lift them up) or they can bring forth death (these words can often can end up with a lost job, a lost friendship, or a lost spouse).  This verse is telling us that it is better to be a fool (and just not say anything) than to say words that bring forth death.  Today, I will share a bit about myself.  Beginning of May 3rd of last year, I have testimony day every Tuesday.  I would highly encourage you to listen to these every Tuesday (they are all worth listening to).  But, it is me going solo Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.  Today, I will go over  a good deal of my testimony today.  CALL to ACTION - I ask everyone to take a good look in the mirror and ask your self if there is anything in your life that you might need to get rid of.  Suggested scripture reading - I ask that you read both Psalm 1 & Psalm 23.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 16.  I will then key in on verse 19 - Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.  Friends, I have been on the subject of humility for the past three weeks.  I'm encouraging everyone to consider having a humble spirit - as opposed to living life with a prideful spirit.  People do not like people who are prideful, or boastful.  People like that are full of themselves and love to boast about who they are and what they've done.  People are drawn to people who are the opposite of that.  Consider being like that.  Today, we will take about a couple people - Esther & Mordecai, a couple Jewish people who lived in the land of Persia around 480 BC.  The King at that time, Ahasuerus called a banquet and invited all of the prominent people of the Kingdom to come to the feast.  He invited his wife to come (so he could show her off - because of her great beauty, but she refused to come).  Because of this, the King consulted his advisors and they agreed that banishing the queen from the Kingdom would be in the king's best interests.  Instead they called for all of the beautiful virgins of the realm to be brought to the King- so he could pick the next queen.  Esther is chosen.  The king is talked into issuing an edict that would kill all Jews in the Kingdom.  However, Esther herself (and her older cousin Mordecai are both Jewish).  Mordecai convinces Esther that she must talk to the king about this - or they will both die.  As a result, Esther (and Mordecai) are both saved - as are all of the Jews.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 15.  I will then key in on verse 15:1 - A some answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.  Today I am going to look at this verse through the eyes of humility.  Rather that have contention and disagreement, I ask that you consider humbling yourself and, instead of arguing, agree with who you are having a disagreement with and bringing peace to a situation instead of contention.  I will then continue my study on humility by looking at a man named Nehemiah.  Nehemiah was a man of influence in the land of Persia.  He worked as a government official in that land and had a well-paying job.  He was very comfortable man there and lived a life of significance.  It came to his attention that the wall of Jerusalem was in great disrepair and had been destroyed and the gates burned.  God placed a great burden on his heart that he was the man to come to the attention of this matter and that he was to be responsible to have the wall rebuilt.  He went to the king of Persia and asked for permission to leave his job and to go to Jerusalem and the king agreed.  He was a driven man and, as a man of great organization, took on great opposition (both from their enemies as well as contentious Jews) and completed the wall in 52 days.  Nehemiah humbled himself, got out of his comfort zone and followed the call of God to get this job done.  As it turned out Ezra the priest read the law to the people - which caused a great revival in Jerusalem.  Call to Action - look around you - pay compliments to people on a regular basis (to people who look like they're having a bad day); offer to help people who look like they could use a helping hand.  Suggested scripture reading: 1.  reread today's proverb, Proverb 15; 2.  Read chapters #7 & 8 of the book of Nehemiah.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 14. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, Osa Graves. Osa is a third year Charis Bible College student at Charis Bible College. Osa was born in Sweden. She talks a bit about her childhood. She talks about her first marriage and being a missionary in the country of Bolivia in South America. She was there about ten years. She talks about how her youngest child was miraculously healed. She then changes direction and talks about how she was drawn to Charis Bible College. She talks about her mission trip to Alaska last year and what she has learned this year in Film and Production school.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 13.  I will then key in on verse 10 - By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.  Ordinarily, in the Bible, when we talk about pride we talk about someone who feels that they have no need of God and tries to do everything on their own, and in their own might.  This verse tells us that this will cause strife.  I looked up strife and it means angry or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues.  Friends, we do not want strife in our life.  Strife means to have disagreements and will result in caustic relationships.  Finally, it says with the well-advised is wisdom.  Friends, we need to have a couple people in our lives who think the way we do - people who we can go to for counsel or prayer.  Today I will continue my study on people in the Old Testament who showed the characteristic of humility.  Specifically, I am going to talk about a woman that doesn't actually have a name in the Bible - she is simply referred to as the Shunamite woman.  She has made a habit of feeding the prophet Elish whenever he passes by her house.  She urges her husband to go a step further and make a make-shift bedroom for him up on the roof - so he will have a place to sleep when he passes their way.  So, Elisha asks her what he can do for her.  He recognizes the fact that she does not have a son and tells her that, by this time next year, that she will have a son.  She rebukes the prophet, as she doesn't think he is capable of keeping that promise - yet she conceives the next year.  The boy grows and a number of years later he gets sick and dies.  She refuses to accept that and goes to see the man of God - who comes back and raises her son back to life.  Call to Action - as if there is anything God has called you to that you have not yet begun to do.  Suggested scripture reading:  Reread this chapter - 2 Kings, Chapter 4.  Also, read the 17th chapter of 1 Kings.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 10.  I will then key in on verse 9 - He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.  Friends, to walk with integrity is to do what you are asked to do.  If you are perverting your way, the dictionary says that you do not follow the correct course (in other words you basically do the opposite of what you are asked to do).  This verse tells us that, if you do that, you will become known.  That means that people will talk about you (you will be the topic of gossip).  That is not what you want to do - so just do the right thing - as much as you possible can.  Today I will share a brief testimony of how I was raised from the dead.  When I was in 5th grade I was hit by a car going 70 mph while I rode my bike.  This was on a Wednesday afternoon.  I did not wake up until Saturday morning, roughly 60 hours later.  During that time, I stopped breathing and the doctors told my parents that there was nothing they could do and that I had died.  Even though I did not know God at that time, He raised me up, and I am here today to talk about the goodness of God.  I will then read Luke, Chapter 4, verses 38 & 39 when Jesus spoke to a fever (Of Peter's mother-in-law and it immediately left her.  Friends, if there is anything in your body that needs to be healed, speak to what is ailing you.  the Bible tells us that if you believe, when you pray, that you will have what you ask (your healing) you shall have what you ask for.  CALL to ACTION - Speak to your body (or any mountain that you are currently having problems with) and I believe that you will have what you ask for.  Suggested Scripture reading - Please reread Proverb 10.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 9.  I will then key in on verse 6 - Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.  Friends when I read this verse it reminds me of the great love chapter.  In the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, verse 11 it says:  When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  Friends, I invite you to grow up - put aside childish or foolish things and begin to walk with some form of wisdom.  Our lives will begin to change and improve!  Today I am going to continue on my study of humility.  Today I will introduce you to King Solomon.  He is the son of King David (together these are the greatest two kings in the history of Israel).  As a backdrop King Solomon has just been coronated king of Israel and God came to Solomon in a dream.  We are in 1 Kings, Chapter 3.  I will read verses 4-9.  Solomon asks God to give him wisdom.  He humbles himself and tells God that he is a child, that he doesn't know how to go out or how to come in; that he doesn't know how to rule the kingdom of Israel that he has just been given.  God was well pleased with him.  As a result, Solomon is now considered the wisest man who ever lived (and is certainly the richest man who ever lived).  I will then read an example of the wisdom which Solomon demonstrated (I will read 1 Kings 3:  16-22 & verses 24-27).  I will read an additional passage which embellishes the wisdom Solomon has (1 Kings 4: verses 29-34).  My call to action is to pay a compliment to someone who you can tell is having a bad day or to give someone a helping hand today.  Suggested scripture reading - I invite you to read both Chapters #3 & 4 of 1 Kings.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 8.  I will then key in on verse 10 -Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.  Friends, if we have knowledge, which leads to understanding, and when applied eventually leads to wisdom we are better off than having silver, or gold, or any other type of precious gem.  Wisdom will allow us to navigate life in a successful way and many good things will be ours.  Today, I will continue in our study on the topic of humility.  On Monday's podcast, I began a study on the young boy, David, who eventually ended up being one of the greatest kings in the history of Israel (if you did not get a chance to listen to Monday's podcast - please take the time to do that prior to listening to this).  Today we will learn that after defeating the giant Goliath, David came to work for King Saul.  He eventually became a mighty warrior and, eventually, a general in Saul's army.  Until one day - when King Saul heard the women of the town singing a chorus of hymn with these words:  Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands.  When King Saul heard these words he burned with envy and jealousy and purposed in his heart to have David killed.  David then fled from Saul and was basically a fugitive for a number of years.  Eventually King Saul died, and David took over the throne of Israel.  First he reigned in Hebron (in Judah) for 3 1/2 years and then became king of all of Israel for and additional 36 1/2 years.  King David eventually became comfortable and ended up making a grave error (I will read 2 Samuel 11: verses 1-5).  King David commits adultery with Bathsheba & then has his good friend, Uriah, murdered while out on the battlefield.  God then sends the prophet Nathan to David (I will read 2 Samuel 12: verses 1-7) to remind David that he has taken another man's wife.  CALL to ACTION - I ask that you think back over your life and forgive yourself for anything that you have been hanging on to.  God has forgiven you, but I am giving you permission to forgive yourself so you can move forward with your life.  Suggested Scripture reading - Read both the 11th & 12th chapters of 2 Samuel.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 7.  I will then introduce you to my guest for the day - Josue Ibarra - now the co-ordinator of the Ministry School at Charis Bible College for third year students.  We will have a discourse about his early life, how he came to know the Lord, how he was drawn to Charis Bible College, how he became the co-ordinator for the Business School.  Then, how he made the transition to the co-ordinator of the Ministry School.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 6.  I will then key in on verse 23 - For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light;  Reproofs of instruction are the way of life.  Friends, we should take to heart the instruction that our parents give us.  If we listen to what our parents say, there is a very good chance that we can avoid serious mishaps in our life.  Today I will continue my study on people in the OT who walked in humility.  Today we will begin the story of a young man named David.  He is found in the Book of 1 Samuel.  In Chapter #16, verse 7 we are told that God does not look at the outward appearance, but He looks at the heart.  I suggest we do the same.  I will then go over 1 Samuel, Chapter #17 and go over verses 26 & 29.  In these two verses, David is rebuked by his older brother Eliab for coming to the battlefield and checking on him and David's other two brothers.  However, David is not swayed by this rebuke.  Instead, he challenges the army of Israel to realize that the giant Goliath is nothing that the God of Israel can't take care of.  As a result, when we get to verses 48-51 of that same chapter, David runs toward Goliath with a sling-shot and a stone and kills him!  CALL to ACTION - I ask everyone to ask God what is the giant in your life that you need to get rid of?  Suggested scripture reading - 1.  Reread today's proverb, Proverb 6 in its entirety (this is one of the best of all of the proverbs).  2.  Reread the 17th chapter of 1 Samuel in its entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 3.  I will then key in on verse 29 - Do not devise evil against your neighbor, For he dwells by you for safety's sake.  Friends, one of the first things we do when we move into a new neighborhood, or if someone moves into a neighborhood next to you is that you reach out to them and greet them!  We should have good relations with our neighbors so that when we have a need we can call on them.  Today I will go over a portion of the 1st chapter of Colossians.  Paul wrote this while he was in a prison in Rome.  And yet, he encourages them to be strong in the Lord.  I will go over four things that I would like for you to consider:  1.  God wants you to have wisdom (I will read verses 9 & 10); God tells us in these two verses that if we read His word that we will have knowledge and that we will have wisdom; 2.  He wants us to be strengthened with all might (I will read verses 11 & 12) - because of the Holy Spirit (which was given to us when we received Jesus as our Lord) - we now have the same spirit in us that Jesus had in Him; 3.  He has delivered us from the power of darkness and into His Light (I will read verses 13 & 14) - we all used to walk in darkness, but now we are walking in the light!  We now don't have to be embarrassed by what we do.  We do our best to do the right thing whenever we can; 4.  Jesus is the image of the invisible God (I will read verses 15-18);  this puts aside all doubt about how the Earth was created.  If anyone wants to know what God is like, simply look at Jesus!  CALL to ACTION - Consider your life carefully and be thankful for all the things God has given to you.  We are all so blessed!  Suggested scripture reading - Please read the entire book of Colossians (four short chapters).

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today, we will be going over Proverb 2.  I will then key in on verse 6 - For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Friends, to really acquire wisdom, you must have the Fear of the Lord.  That is the beginning of knowledge (Proverb 1:7); which, as you apply that knowledge will lead to understanding; will will eventually lead to wisdom.  Today we will continue our study on the topic of humility.  Today we will look at a woman named Ruth.  Ruth had married a man from a family that had come from the land of Judah.  She had been with him ten years, when he died.  She had fallen in love with her mother-in-law Naomi.  Naomi had now lost her husband and both of her sons, and was in a foreign land.  She wished to move back to her homeland of Judah.  She loved her daughters-in-law, but suggested that they go back to their real parents.  One chose that path, but Ruth "clung" to Naomi.  I will read Ruth, Chapter 1, verses 16-17.  Ruth humbled herself before Naomi.  Then, she humbles herself before Boaz, a friend of Naomi's former husband.  I will read Chapter 2: verses 10-13.  She ends up marrying this man, Boaz, and had a child with him.  She became the great, great, Grandmother of King David of Israel.  CALL to ACTION - Continue to look for opportunities to pay people compliment who look like they could use one, and help out anyone you see that could use a hand.  Suggested scripture reading:  If you can find time, read this short book of the Bible titled Ruth.  It is short (only four chapters) and is a study in humility.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 1.  I will then key in on verse 7 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.  I will then read the commentary of my Bible and share what it has on this verse.  Friends, all wisdom begins with having a reverence for God and who He is.  For anyone that shuns God, or dismisses Him as being real basically forfeits the right to have wisdom.  We must come to the place where we acknowledge Him for who He is if we are to live the life that He would have us live.  Today, I will continue our study on humility.  I will introduce you to woman named Rahab, a harlot who lived in the town of Jericho.  I will read the entire 2nd chapter of the Book of Joshua.  Joshua sent two spies to spy out the land.  They immediately went to where you could receive answers to your questions - the house of the prostitute.  When they came to her door she asked them for favor and asked that when the Israelites would ultimately prevail over their town, that she and her immediate family would be saved.  When the king of Jericho heard about these spies, he sent for them.  But, Rahab lied that they had already gone, risking her life in the prostitute.  Because of what she did, she is now one of the heroines of the Bible.  She is the great, great, great grandmother of King David of Israel and is listed as one of the women of great faith in the Book of Hebrews (Chapter #11).  CALL to ACTION - Pay a compliment to someone who looks like they could use it and help anyone who looks like they have a need and could use some help.  Suggested scripture reading:  Please reread Chapter #2 of Joshua and read Chapter #3 as well.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 30.  I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, Justin Arenas.  Justin is a third year Charis Bible College student.  Justin shares how he was molested as a small child by a family member and how he grew into that homosexual lifestyle.  He shares how he became addicted to drugs and alcohol and how, even though he knew God was real, couldn't seem to break out of the bondage that he was stuck in.  He shares how he came to a point in his life that he realized he wanted to break the cycle of the life he was living.  He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and his life began to turn around.  He helped build a church and has a couple healing testimonies that he was a part of.  He was told by an aunt that he should come to Charis Bible College student and answered the call.  He shares his experiences at Charis and how he now has future plans that involve planting churches.
