411. Job - Chapter #6 - Teach me, and I will Hold my Tongue - October 30, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 30. I will then key in on verses 32 & 33 - If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth. For as the churning of milk produces butter, And wringing the nose produces blood, So the forcing of wrath produces strife. Friends, scripture tells us that God resists, the proud, and gives grace to the humble. Verse 32 talks about someone who is prideful, and the result is found in verse 33 (it produces strife). We should avoid strife at all times. On today's podcast, we will continue our study on the Book of Job. I will read Chapter 6 in its entirety and go over three things: 1. We need to be careful with our words - I am constantly reminding the audience of this fact. The main thing to remember (when it comes to our words) is that once you speak words, you can never take them back. 2. Do not overreact when bad things happen in your life - This is a tough one. It is very easy to overreact, but usually when we act rashly, or when we speak rashly, many times we will regret what we do or say. We need to learn to be patient before we act (or speak). 3. We need to have discernment - Whether you are giving advice to a spouse, or close friend (or other loved one) you need to keep in mind how to share what you want to share with them. You need to consider how they will react to what you say. This is why it is important not to give advice to just anyone. You should only advise people that you are very close with. The same goes with who you seek advice from. Call to action - Ask yourself if there is strife in your life - and if your answer to that question is yes, seek God in prayer and ask Him to let you know how to lesson or to take away the strife in that situation Suggested scripture reading - Reread today's proverb, Proverb 30 in its entirety; 2.
