415. The Patriarchs of Old - #1 Noah Walked with God - November 3, 2023

from Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley · host Bill Kelley

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 3. I will then key in on verses 5, 6, & 7. These verses tell us that we are to put our trust in God, and not in ourselves, and that we are to avoid evil. Today, we will look at the man, Noah. He is introduced in the Gook of Genesis, Chapter #6. We are told that Noah was a righteous man, and that he walked with God. We will begin the podcast by reading the entire 6th chapter of Genesis. I will then go over four points that I would like for you to consider: 1. God was sorry that He had made man. I will go over the commentary in my Bible (the Nelson Study Bible) for verses 6 & 7. Here it tells us that God wishes that He had never made man. He had had enough of the evil of mankind, and that basically the very nature of all man was evil. Thank goodness for Noah - or else none of us would be here today. 2. Noah walked with God. In light of how evil all of the rest of man was, it is really impressive to know that there was one righteous man on the earth - the man Noah. Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives saved all of mankind from the wrath of God. 3. The ark was prepared. This point really is special to me. There is nothing to indicate that Noah lived near water, or had ever seen a boat. Yet, God tells him to build a boat that is 450 feet long. That is an awfully big boat. He probably had never seen rain. It even took him over 100 years to build and get the ark prepared for the flood. I can only imagine all the ridicule that he got from his neighbors and those around him. 4. God enters into a covenant with Noah. I will read the commentary found in my Bible for verses 18 & 19. These verses tell us that God wanted to make a special bond (or covenant) with Noah. This is the first time this word is used in the Bible. God wanted Noah to know that God would never again destroy the earth as He was about to do. Call to Action - Ask yourself if you are a righteous person? If you were to ask your spouse, a friend, your employer or other people you know, what would they say about you? Simply give it some thought. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 3 today; Proverb 4 tomorrow; Proverb 5 on Sunday and reread today's chapter, the 6th Chapter of Genesis each of these days.
