Navštívili jsme společnost Lafarge Cement, a.s., ve které jsme diskutovali nejen o výrobě a dekarbonizaci cementu, ale měli jsme také možnost nahlédnout do samotného výrobního areálu. Výroba cementu představuje cca 8 % světových emisí oxidu uhličitého. Jedná se tedy o odvětví, jehož dekarbonizace je pro dosažení klimatických cílů velmi důležitá. Podobně jako v případě oceli ani zde není dekarbonizace snadná: dvě třetiny emisí oxidu uhličitého vznikají během chemické reakce při výrobě, a tu v současnosti nedokážeme nijak nahradit. Zároveň se však bez cementu v současnosti neobejdeme a potřebujeme jej i jako surovinu pro samotnou dekarbonizaci. V této epizodě s námi můžete cementárnu navštívit, nahlédnout do pece, ve které se taví vápencový slín, nebo se podívat do kulového mlýna, kde se cement rozemílá, aby měl potřebnou hrubost.
