423. Job - Chapter #13 Job Pleads his Case Before God - November 15, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 15. I will then key in on verse 1 - A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up strife. Friends, a lot of times, it is not the words we speak, but how we deliver our words that creates so many problems. Someone who understood this was Job. We will continue our study in Job today by taking a look at Chapter #13. In this chapter Job will speak frankly with his three friends, and plead his case before God. We will go over the entire chapter and look at the following items: 1. Job desires to reason with God - In his heart, Job felt that he had done nothing wrong, and he was willing to plead his case before God. 2. Job asks his friends to be quiet. I think this is admirable on Job's part. He obviously knew these friends very well. He is basically telling them to be quiet! He tells them that he has heard what they have said to him, and now tells them to listen to what he has to say. 3. Job puts his trust in God - one of my favorite verses of the entire Bible are found in Job, Chapter #13, verse 15 - "Thous He slay, me, yet will I trust Him." Wow - that's powerful. Job takes his case before God - and later in the book of Job God praises Job for his frankness. 4. Job asks God to show him his sin. I think this is awesome! I suggest everyone consider doing this from time to time with God as well. Ask Him if there is anything going on in your life that He is not pleased with. This shows me how intimate a relationship Job had with his God. Call to Action - Ask yourself if you have a friend that you could be so frank with as was Job with his three friends. If you answer no to that question, ask God to put someone into your life that you can have as that person. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 15 in its entirety 2.
