Na 11 september 2001 werden de Afghaanse taliban al snel beschouwd als de voornaamste vijand in de War on Terror. Is dat terecht? Het verhaal van een terrorist die een vriend wil zijn. Een zoektocht naar oud talibanleider Mullah Omar. Maar het boek gaat ook over journalistiek bedrijven, over hoor en wederhoor. Journalist Nian Bakal in gesprek met journalist en schrijver Bette Dam. Vijf jaar lang werkte ze aan haar boek ‘op zoek naar de vijand.’ Bette reisde tot diep in Afghanistan en volgde het verhaal van de mysterieuze talibanleider Omar.
