48. Prevention & Recovery of the Most Common Golf Injuries with Dr. Audra Lance

from T-Time with Tori Totlis

Today, I’m sitting down with Dr. Audra Lance, a leading sports and non-surgical injury specialist, who gives her best strategies on reducing the risk of injury or recovering from one.  Listen in as Dr. Audra shares her valuable insights into understanding the root cause of common sports injuries such as tennis elbow, rather than simply stifling the pain with a temporary band-aid solution.  We cover the fundamental role of breathing and thoracic spine mobility for golfers, as well as how loading the joints can prevent bone and muscle deterioration, and how modifying yoga poses can aid in injury prevention and recovery.  Key Highlights ·      Recovering from an inflamed elbow from repeated golf swings, without taking time away from playing the sport, is possible with a little planning. For example, instead of playing 18 holes, go to the driving range and do 15 minutes of swing practice. Holistic, deliberate movement, combined with purposeful breathing, can serve as your “tylenol”, helping you heal from your injury faster. ·      The importance of breathing when it comes to preventing and treating lower back pain is essential. Nasal breathing can help access your diaphragm and pelvic floor, not only to help release tension almost immediately, but to help you perform better out on the golf course! ·      We explore how strength training and yoga can help prevent and treat neck pain, headaches, jaw pain, and shoulder blade pain. We emphasize the importance of loading the joints to prevent bone and muscle deterioration, and how modifications to yoga poses can help with injury prevention and recovery. ·      We look at how examining the feet can help diagnose and treat an injury, and how adding different components of movement to your routine can help maintain health and prevent pain.  Connect with our Guest: Dr. Audra Lance: Instagram | Website  For more information on our Breaking Bogeys Coaching Membership, visit BreakingBogeys.com Subscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: <a href= "https://www.facebook.com/groups/firsttcrew" target=" ...
