484 The Arrest and the Denial (Lk 22:39–71)

Thursday, April 10th: In part two of Luke 22, The Daily Grind takes us into the garden, the betrayal, and Peter’s heartbreaking denial. As the shadows fall over Jerusalem, Jesus retreats to the Mount of Olives—not to escape, but to pray. He pleads with the Father, wrestling with the weight of what’s coming, yet fully surrendered to God’s will. While His disciples sleep, Judas arrives with a kiss that cuts deep. In the chaos, Jesus brings calm—healing a wounded enemy and refusing to meet violence with violence. Peter follows at a distance, but under pressure, denies knowing Jesus three times. When the rooster crows, Jesus turns and looks at him—not with condemnation, but with sorrow and love. Meanwhile, Jesus is mocked and beaten by those who refuse to believe, even as He declares who He truly is. This episode reminds us of Jesus’ courage, Peter’s weakness, and the unwavering love of the One who sees us at our worst—and still stays.
