Monday, April 14: In part one of Luke 23, John walks us through the trial of Jesus—not a search for truth, but a tragic game of politics, power, and public pressure. Jesus is brought before Pilate, then sent to Herod, and then back to Pilate again. At every turn, no guilt is found in Him—yet no one will stand up for Him either. Pilate tries to release Him, even offering to let Him go as a Passover tradition. But the crowd chooses Barabbas instead—a man guilty of insurrection and murder. It’s a moment that reveals how twisted justice becomes when people are more concerned with pleasing the crowd than doing what’s right. And yet, Jesus never protests. He remains silent, steady, surrendered. This wasn’t just a failure of human justice—it was the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
