Una publicación viral en redes sociales propuso cambiar el nombre del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas, la cual tiene el acrónimo en inglés de I.C.E. ó ICE, a Servicio Nacional de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas, lo que cambiaria el acrónimo a N.I.C.E., ó NICE, que significa "agradable." La publicación recibió el respaldo público del presidente Trump, que publicó el mensaje "Gran idea, hazlo!" El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional comenzó entonces a usar el eslogan "ICE is NICE," ó, ICE es agradable" en redes sociales y publicó videos de agentes de ICE supuestamente ayudando a la gente. Sin embargo, uno de los videos provocó una fuerte reacción negativa por mostrar a un agente enmascarado retirando una flor de un monumento en memoria de Renee Good, quien fue asesinada por ICE. DO IT". The Department of Homeland Security then began using the slogan "ICE is Nice" on social media, and posted videos of ICE agents supposedly being helpful. However, one of the videos sparked severe backlash for depicting a masked agent removing a flower from a memorial for Renee Good, who was killed by ICE. Critics, including Amnesty International, condemned the effort as a tone-deaf public relations stunt that mocked a victim's memory. At least 18 individuals have died in ICE custody since January.
