50 Years of Divestment And Racial Divide Along Troost Avenue, Change Is In The Wind – Director Kevin Bryce Talks About His Film “We Are Supe

Peter Hoffman of the National Lawyers Guild interviews filmmaker Kevin Bryce about his new film, "We are Superman." The documentary takes an in-depth look at what it takes to transform a community that has suffered from disinvestment for 50 years. Troost Avenue has historically been a racial and economic dividing line in Kansas City, but there is a movement to erase that divide. On 31st and Troost there is a community of people who have stopped waiting on a superman and have recognized the superhero in all of us. They have a vision to transform the dividing line of Troost Avenue into a gathering place. This is the story of their work, their vision, and how one corner is transforming a city. The film is being screened at Rockhurst University's Massman Gallery as part of their Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration. Events begin at 1pm, screening at 3pm with reception to follow.
