51: Make art worth talking about

There's no such thing as bad press. But the best press is free. And for artists, word of mouth is the most top-tier advertising you could ever hope for. Getting people talking about your artwork, sharing it with each other, and making commentary about it is the fastest way to get "press." Especially in the age of digital media and going viral, which makes sharing artwork much easier than it was in previous generations. But it's more than advertising. It's also making work that is meaningful, impactful, and moving. Shallow gimmicks are only worth mentioning for a moment. Deeper art is worth debating over for a century.
