51. Romans 5:4-8 (5-8-24) | Final - Audio

from Calvary Chapel Elk Grove-The Book of Romans (2023-2026) · host Pastor Phil Ballmaier

51. Romans 5:4-8 (5-8-24) | Final Calvary Chapel Elk Grove Pastor Phil Ballmaier 5-8-24 Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Romans, Chapter 5. Romans 5 is an amplification of the last 2 words of Romans 4: “Our justification”—and explains two basic truths: ‘The Blessings of Justification’; ‘The Basis for our Justification.’ In today's verses we are given some of the greatest promises in the Bible to assure our eternal standing, when we are in Christ. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Is it because we are good? Or because we are perfect? Absolutely not - its' because He is, and when we choose Him as our Savior, we take on His righteousness. We are sinners saved by grace. His sacrifice shows us that His love is higher than the greatest heights, and deeper than the deepest depths. We are justified by faith, not of ourselves, lest one of us should boast. *** Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world. Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.
