Daarover verscheen in april zijn boek Marifoonberichten. Een verzameling van waargebeurde verhalen die over een periode van twintig jaar in de Volkskrant verschenen. Hij vertelt over zijn liefde voor zeilen en over zijn eerste oversteek van Engeland naar IJmuiden. Over zijn avonturen op Rottumerplaat en over het gezelschap van de marifoon, die hij natuurlijk ook heeft meegenomen naar de studio.
