51. Voting and Civic Responsibility

from Docs2Dads - A Pediatrician’s Field Guide for Fathers

Each week, at the end of the podcast, I encourage dads to pursue three things.1) Healthier Dads2) Happier Kids3) Strong CommunitiesBut how do we build stronger communities around our family? This week, we discuss one way that we can influence the community around us and that is by voting in local elections. Election Day is next week and while much attention has been given to tight races for the US Senate and Governor's Mansions around the country, for many of us local elections, like Mayor, City Council, and School Board are much more likely to have a direct impact on our families and our community. It's also an opportunity to talk to our kids about the blessing we have to live in a democracy and to be able to raise our voice and cast our vote for the leadership we want to see in our country, state, and community. We can teach our kids about the US Government system and our key role in moving it forward. Let me know what you think about the power of voting in local elections on Social Media.Follow Docs2Dads for more #parenting content from a #pediatrician living the #dadlife - transforming #evidencebasedmedicine into practical #parentingtips#docs2dads #fatherhood #parentinggoals #workingdads #electionday2022 #elections #votelocal #localelections #civicduty #responsbility #American #voteConnect with Docs2Dads:Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drscottpedsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/docs2dadspodEmail: [email protected]: https://www.facebook.com/docs2dadspodHave a question about this or other topics?
