from Welcome to Dismantling Diet Cultured: F*ck Being Calladita · host Dr. Hortencia Jimenez

In today's episode I had the honor to share the space with Zachariah Ben. Zac is a 6th generation Dine farmer from Shiprock, NM. Together with his wife Zach co-founded Bidii Baby Foods LLC during the pandemic with the goal of providing organic, locally grown and shelf stable traditional foods during the early childhood period. Bidii Baby Foods LLC grows and processes traditional foods on their 16-acre farm plot in Gadi'ahii, NM. Zachariah aims to address structural barriers impeding his community from accessing food through the healing practices of community farming and entrepreneurship.  In today's episode Zac talked about 👉🏽 Establishing healthy food relationships in early childhood 👉🏽forced dependency on commodity/processed foods (including baby formula and purees)  👉🏽Importance of traditional foods (i.e. ancestral connection, nutritional benefits, ceremony, cooking practices, etc.)  👉🏽Breaking intergenerational cycles of trauma through farming and parenting 👉🏽Emergence and founding of Bidii Baby Foods and so much more!!
