556 // WHOSE OPINIONS AND VOICES ARE DRIVING THE BUS?

from The Awakening Her Podcast · host Talia Joy, Manifestation Mentor

Welcome back to the show! In this episode, we're continuing our conversation about the gap between knowing what you want and actually creating it. Because sometimes the thing standing between you and the next chapter isn't a lack of clarity. Sometimes it's the voices you're listening to. And I'm talking about BOTH kinds: The voices outside of you — parents, friends, partners, mentors, family, culture, social media, and even the random Facebook commenter with an opinion about your life 😂 And the voices inside of you — your inner critic, old beliefs, past experiences, inherited expectations, and collective narratives that you've absorbed so deeply that they now sound like your own thoughts. We dive into where these voices come from, how to recognize them, and how to develop the discernment to know what deserves your attention — and what doesn't. Because listening to yourself doesn't mean ignoring everyone else. There's a difference between receiving someone's perspective and handing them the steering wheel.   In this episode, we explore: How our parents become some of the first voices we internalize Why some of the beliefs running our lives were never consciously chosen by us The collective narratives we absorb about money, success, risk, age, careers, relationships, and what's “realistic” Why becoming a new version of yourself can sometimes challenge the people who have known you the longest How to tell the difference between helpful feedback and someone else's fear, conditioning, or limitations Why someone can genuinely love you and still be wrong about what's right for your life Because you don't have to shut everyone out. You don't have to prove anyone wrong. You don't have to stop listening. You simply get to decide what you do with what you're told. You can respect someone's expertise and decide their advice isn't for you. You can hear a thought in your head without believing it. And you can listen to the voices around you without handing them the steering wheel. This is your life. You're allowed to live it. If this episode resonated with you...
