57 | Giving in Balance: Unmet Needs and Wellbeing: Interview With Nancy Sowell, LICSW, IFS Trainer

from Thriving in Christ | Professional Women, High Level Habits, Resilience, Burnout, Stress, Grief · host Dr. Ioana Popa | Psychiatrist Educator, Executive Coach, Speaker & Spiritual Care Formation

For many givers, it may seem that feeling out of balance is an unavoidable part of the giving journey. This may be partly true nowadays as busyness, success and productivity are part of our cultural-dominating beliefs. But it does not have to be so. Continuously giving with no regard to taking care of our own needs, can be unfruitful and can lead to imbalance. Our body, heart (emotions) and mind (thoughts) may actually carry burdens and unhelpful beliefs from unmet needs in childhood, which can eventually lead to burnout or even medical conditions. These burdens and old beliefs (mindsets) might have helped us in the past, but now might keep us in unhelpful cycles. In this episode, we are joined by Nancy Sowell, LICSW, Therapist and Internal Family System (IFS) International Trainer who will share her wisdom and decades of professional experience about - the power of balance at the body, mind, heart and spiritual level- how early childhood emotional neglect can impact us (and how much more common it is than we think)- ways to identify signs of imbalance- and ways to listen to ourselves and our needs to bring back our balance ABOUT Nancy Sowell, LICSW:🍵 She is an Internal Family Systems (IFS) International Trainer, Consultant, and Therapist🍵 Teaching Associate at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry at the Cambridge Health Alliance🍵 Specializes in behavioral medicine and mental health interventions for pain and health problems🍵 Co-created an IFS treatment protocol and program for rheumatoid arthritis patients for the research study at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, which led IFS Therapy to become Evidence-based🍵 She has been a psychotherapist since 1992, working with individuals, couples, and groups.🍵 She has a private practice on Cape Cod & in Newton, Massachusetts You can check Nancy’s website here: http://www.nancysowell.com/  👍 And if this episode blessed you, you can DOWNLOAD IT & LEAVE us a QUICK REVIEW!
