Without the pressures of standardized testing and policy changes, Bill finds great satisfaction in his current role. In his first year of substitute teaching, Bill taught a grade 5 Ukrainian class and handled several long-term assignments at the local high school, including a stint in French Immersion Science. These varied experiences have kept his retirement busy and fulfilling. Bill’s teaching adventures will soon take a brief pause as he travels to Australia for his oldest son's wedding and later to India for another celebration and a tour of the Golden Triangle. These trips exemplify the active and fulfilling life he leads post-retirement. Reflecting on his career, Bill acknowledges that teaching was not his initial career choice. After exploring various paths, including pursuing a master's degree, he ultimately decided to become a teacher at 29. His perseverance eventually led to a stable position with a continuous contract, bringing much-needed stability for his family and career.
