5B CHEF NOKX MAJOZI - THE SA COOKBOOK (13 AUG 26)
from 5 Breakfast · host 5FM
This morning on 5 Breakfast, we’re is joined by Chef Nokx Majozi; a South African chef who has taken the flavours of home all the way into some of London’s most serious kitchens. Nokx grew up around food in KwaZulu-Natal, learning early from the rhythms of a home kitchen near Richards Bay before building a career that took her from South Africa to the United States and then to London, where she spent more than a decade at Rosewood London, most recently as Head Pie Maker and Senior Chef. Now she is bringing that journey back to the plate with The South African Cookbook; a celebration of South African food in all its range, from boerewors rolls and bobotie to melktert, rainbow salad and the everyday recipes that carry memory, family, place and identity. The book features 90 recipes and is built around the diverse, vibrant flavours of South African cooking. So this is a conversation about food, yes; but also about home, nostalgia, township kitchens, Sunday tables, global kitchens, and why South African food deserves to be taken seriously without losing the warmth that made us love it in the first place.
