6. Coaching vs Coddling
from Life Coaching Secrets · host Frank Macri
There is a fine line between coaching and coddling. One question to assess yourself is: How comfortable are you with your client's discomfort? As coaches, we must be OK with our clients being in pain. Coaching is a messy, painful process. That's what makes it so transformational. You are not coaching to get your client's approval. And, you are NOT coaching to make your client feel good. This doesn't mean you have to be a mean drill sergeant to your client. But it does mean you have to be firm, direct, curious and willing to challenge your client's thinking. When you stop coddling and start coaching, your clients actually get better results. They will respect you. You will bring out the BEST version of them. In this episode, I show you how to get it done. To become a Certified Professional Coach, visit www.thrivingcoachacademy.com.
