60. How to Overcome Plateaus in Your Golf Game with Trillium Rose

from T-Time with Tori Totlis

I’m sitting down with superstar golf instructor, Trillium Rose, to discuss the evolution of women's golf, how to get better faster AND how to overcome a plateau in your golf game! When I asked Trillium how to overcome a plateau, she recommended keeping stats by paying attention to patterns in your golf game. Can’t hit your 3-wood correctly? Blading or chinking your chips? “Let’s take a really honest look in the mirror,” says Trillium, “and figure out where you can improve.” She also warns against “the illusion of confidence” that golfers tend to fall into at the driving range, thinking that they’re improving simply because they’re getting in some good shots. Instead, “I may want to be working on shots I suck at because those are the shots that are going to cost me strokes!” To new players looking to establish a strong foundation, Trillium says that it’s important to understand where the club hits the ground and create “a consistent bottoming out”. She also encourages a lot of block practice as a warmup before moving onto the golf course to build the skill of environmental adaptation as fast as possible. About the Guest: Trillium Rose is a teaching professional and Director of Instruction at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. She is an expert in diagnosing swings, designing appropriate practice drills, and developing clear and concise practice plans. With nearly two decades of experience teaching golf, she has trained thousands of students. Her research-based training approach combines three critical areas of competency: mechanics, productive practice, and performance.
