#64 Lauren Giambrone (Good Fight Herb Co.) / Sehla Graham (Rolling Grocer) "Herbalism and Food Accessibility"
from i want what SHE has · host Theresa Widmann
Girl-talking about herbalism, the Catholic Church, and our special herbal concoctions that we got from the Good Fight Herb Co when we visited there a few weeks ago to interview our first guest today, Lauren Giambrone! We play our road-trip interview of Lauren and bring you along for the ride, literally in the car and walking to the shop. Lauren talks about how she got into herbalism and knew pretty quickly it was her calling. She started small by tending herb gardens in the Hudson Valley and doing farmer's markets which eventually grew to opening a brick and mortar location in Hudson and starting a farm school with her soul-sister Mandana called the Wild Gather Herb School. We get to touch on so many important subjects like herbs for Spring, herb circles, cultural appropriation, sustainability and inclusivity in the herbal community. NO more SAGE or PALO SANTO people!!! She's a real gem of a human full of wisdom and passion for healing. Go get some herbal LOVE! Lauren tipped us to an amazing little grocer around the corner from her shop called the Rolling Grocer which offers groceries at tiered pricing. Sehla "Cece" Graham greeted us with a smile when we walked in and was such a shining, happy face that we wanted to get an interview of her about the progressive and community minded way the store is run. Be inspired by the tiered pricing structure based upon income levels and how that helps to make healthy, organic food accessible to everyone. Let's all do that!!! Self care brings to you MORE tincture talk...Shana's Over the Hedge tincture helping her to make decisions that best support her and her "work." Theresa talks about her astrology reading from Miguel Mendes which blew her mind. She's hopeful that it will be the final piece to anchoring her into her creative work. If you want to get in touch with him email her, and she'll connect you! Today’s show was engineered by Manuel Blas and Ben Benton of Radio Kingston, www.radiokingston.org. We heard music from Shana Falana, http://www.shanafalana.com/.
