65. The Heart of a Father: Give Good Gifts

It seems like a pretty simple idea: A father should desire to give good gifts to his kids. Jesus said as much in Matthew 7:9-11. Yet, it's not always that easy. There are some deeper issues here. Should we give our kids every "good gift" they ask for? Does our Heavenly Father actually give us everything we ask for, as scripture suggests? What should our heart position be toward our kids when they haven't earned the gifts they're asking for? What is the interplay between discipline and freedom, and how does it line up with what Jesus discloses about the heart of a father in these profound verses from his Sermon on the Mount? In this episode, Brett and Perry take a deep dive into several key verses from Matthew Chapters 6 & 7 that speak to God's heart for us, and how they translate to what our heart should be toward our own kids. We are instructed to "ask, seek, and knock" to received the blessings of our Heavenly Father. Do we believe that? And do our kids expect the same from us?
