693 Building an Awesome Practice with Dr. Derek Nordstrom : Dentistry Uncensored with Howard Farran

Dr. Nordstrom grew up on a farm in Viking, Alberta. His father, Dr. Bryan Nordstrom, has been the dentist in Viking since 1980. Dr. Nordstrom graduated from High School in Viking and then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton where he achieved his Bachelor of Medical Science degree, and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005.   After Dental School, Dr. Nordstrom moved to Whitehorse, Yukon to work for the Pearson Dental Group, where he practiced general dentistry in both Whitehorse and Watson Lake for two years. Dr. Nordstrom gained immeasurable experience from his time in the Yukon, guided by two great mentors, Dr. Ron Pearson and Dr. John Stern.   Dr. Nordstrom married his wife Angela Sachs in 2007, and they decided to buy a dental practice in Alberta to be closer to family and friends. They investigated both Rimbey and Wainwright as potential locations, but settled on Wainwright. They have operated Nordstrom Dental in Wainwright since 2007, and have built the practice into a successful business. In 2012 they decided to expand their business and Rimbey was the obvious choice for them considering the proximity to Angela's family, as well as the thriving and dynamic nature of the Town of Rimbey and surrounding areas.   Dr. Nordstrom and his wife Angela have one son, Truman and a daughter, Lucia. Dr. Nordstrom enjoys the great outdoors, bee keeping, and is an avid hunter. Angela is an accomplished artist, although her children seem to take up most of her time now, leaving little for her to pursue her artistic passion. The Nordstrom's are very excited to be able to spend more time in Rimbey and plan to take full advantage of the many outdoor activities (especially the lakes) that can be enjoyed in the area.   www.rimbeydental.com
