72/365: Damo Bolger at the St Patrick's Day Festival, Dublin City

from Sin Scéal Eile

I’ve known Damo from working in the events industry for years, I know he’s a grafter, I know he’s a plate spinner and I know he loves his work on the St. Patrick’s Day Festival. We popped up to where the floats and performers were getting ready this morning to see Damo in action and get an insight into the production that goes into it all. Between his phone calls and radio calls he manages to tell us how you get an idea for a float to become a working, functional vehicle that can hoist an aerial performer in the air, swinging from a tree branch and surrounded by bold faeries and Irish wolfhounds. The whole morning is a sensory overload as we see all the marching bands getting into formation, the stilt walkers climbing up, and all the wee kids absolutely buzzing to get going. The parade is something to be truly cherished, along with the greater festival events too. It shows the best of the Irish community, our heritage, our talent, our skills, and our love of pure craic and divilment. Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh go léir xSin Scéal Eile - That's Another Story was hosted and created by Ruth Medjber, with sound by Ronan Lally. The podcast is produced by Dee Reddy at Poddle Audio with original music by Elaine Mai. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
